Over the course of his career as a professional wrestler, Paul Wight has proved his status as a legend of the industry. Be it his time in WCW as The Giant or his time in WWE as Big Show – Wight was one of the greatest super heavyweights of all time, becoming a multi-time World Champion in the process. He’s currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, where he’s had very limited ring-time, and part of that is due to a recent knee surgery that left Wight in a wheelchair for 11 weeks.
Paul Wight Reveals The Damage Done To His Knee, Was Left In Wheelchair While Implant Was Built
During a recent interview with Metro UK – Wight would reveal the extent of the damage cause to his knee over his long career. Paul Wight was quoted saying the following.
“Well, I spent 11 weeks in a wheelchair because I was waiting for them to build the implant for my knee because of my size. I had crushed all the bone in the knee, I was bleeding into my shin. So, I’ve got a good pain tolerance, but when I say I rode the tire down to the rim, that’s exactly what I did. But, luckily I still have all my ligaments in that knee, everything’s good there, it’s a nice, brand new titanium joint so it’s good for 35 years. I can parachute if I want to – not that I’ll ever jump out of an airplane, we all saw the movie Operation Dumbo drop, I don’t think that’s me, we’re good!”
Wight Is Set To Be Playable In AEW Fight Forever
Wight signed with AEW in 2021, and has only wrestled four matches for the company – holding a perfect 0-4 record, including a PPV victory over QT Marshall at All Out 2021. We could see Wight wrestle more in 2023 now that’s healthy, but Tony Khan might be hesitant to put Wight in the ring over the younger talent waiting for a spot in AEW.
Wight will be playable in the upcoming AEW: Fight Forever game, having been confirmed early in the games development. This makes him likely the biggest wrestler in terms of scale in the game – and early play reports said that helped him stand out from the rest of the roster.
