AEW is deep into their working relationship with Turner Networks. Since the company debuted, it had gotten two shows on Turner television as well as several specials, a reality program, and promo on different TNT shows. Current WWE main eventer Cody Rhodes was even a talent show judge on a non-AEW show.
Turner Networks Still All In on All Elite Wrestling as Network President Shares Glowing Opinion on Tony Khan and AEW
Turner Networks president Jason Sarlanis had nothing but good words for the brand and owner Tony Khan. Following the announcement of AEW: All Access—which turned out to be a bit anticlimactic given Khan’s history of big announcements—Sarlanis chatted with Variety about the new show and AEW.
“AEW has such an amazingly loyal and dedicated fan base that brings in more than 4 million viewers to TBS every Wednesday night. With ‘All Access,’ we are bringing that incredible audience a whole new way to experience the wrestling universe they love. We have a powerful partnership with Tony Khan and AEW. With this new series we are expanding the franchise in a way that invites viewers inside the world of wrestling like never before.”
It’s definitely promo but both have benefited from the agreement. AEW has its content and storylines on international television weekly while Turner Networks can have as much content where AEW handles the heavy lifting. All Turner needs is the time on one of their many networks and Tony will fill in. It’s pretty much the relationship between a promotion and the network.
AEW: All Access seems similar to other wrestling documentary/reality programs tied to the company such as TNA Reaction. However, this program is being promoted as unscripted with a focus on the AEW roster and less of a mix between unscripted and unscripted scripted material.
No date has been given for the debut of AEW: All Access.
