Over the past few years, the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match has taken place at AEW Revolution – with Scorpio Sky & Wardlow as previous winners. This year, the match takes place on AEW Dynamite, but the prize remains the same. The winner gets a shot at the TNT Championship – currently held by Samoa Joe. Entering the mix this year is Eddie Kingston, AR Fox, Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita, Ortiz, Sammy Guevara, Action Andretti, and making his AEW debut – Komander.

Seven Men Turn Into Five As The Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match Kicks Off

Kingston & Ortiz would split off, their issues in recent weeks being very clear – and Kingston used a ladder to smash his old friend before brawling to the back. Fox hit Komander with a corkscrew brainbuster, before Guevara hit him in the face with a ladder. Andretti took Guevara down, but as he looked to set up the ladder – a springboard dropkick would land.

Hometown hero Hobbs would run Komander down, before sending him spine first into the steel. Fox would meet a ladder next, with a Biel Toss sending him flying. Andretti would be set up for the running powerslam, and was the third man to be run into the ladder. Guevara would think twice before even stepping into the ring with Hobbs.

One man who had no fear was Takeshita, who would trade lariats in the middle with Hobbs – before sending him face first into the ladder to set up a Deadlift German Suplex. Guevara snuck into the ring and hit a jumping knee, before taking a superkick from Andretti – being sent to the floor for a plancha. Fox would fly next, hitting an imploding senton.

Komander would show his skills, walking the rope like a tight rope before a giant dive – earning the respect of the fans instantly. Guevara tried to climb to victory, but was halted by rival Action Andretti. They’d cancel each other out, as Komander looked to climb – but was stopped by Takeshita. Komander would almost be suplexed onto a ladder bridge by Hobbs, with Fox making the save only to be punished for his good deed.

Powerhouse Hobbs Gets HUGE Win In Hometown

Guevara was close to victory, with Andretti again being the man to man to stop Guevara – hitting a Falcon Arrow off the top of the ladder onto a ladder bridge. Fox was still on the ladder bridge on the floor, and Komander hit a Shooting Star Press – adding more injury to a broken Fox. Komander was close to the win, but Takeshita took him down with a massive Blue Thunder Bomb – from top of the ladder to the mat.

Andretti would brawl with Takeshita on top of the ladder, only for Daniel Garcia to hit the ring and help factionmate Guevara out. Working with Guevara, they’d use some chairs and a ladder to set up a situation that will take Andretti out for good, as Guevara channelled his inner Jeff Hardy and hit a Swanton Bomb off a 20ft ladder.

Garcia would drag Guevara into the ring, and carried him up the ladder. Takeshita would be there to make the save, before the Power Drive knee took Garcia out. Takeshita was close to the win, but Hobbs would ram the ladder down with a shoulder tackle, breaking the ladder.

He’d still climb and get the Brass Ring – and next week on AEW Dynamite, he will face the winner of Samoa Joe vs. Wardlow with the TNT Championship on the line. Wardlow & Samoa Joe would brawl after the bell – with Hobbs sitting back and watching his two potential opponents destroy each other.
