Bryan Danielson has been working hard to get his match with MJF next month at AEW Revolution – and has another obstacle in his path. After MJF & Brian Cage attempted to shatter his arm last week, Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Timothy Thatcher is here to finish the job. A man who would have fit in alongside the likes of Lou Thesz, Billy Robinson and Karl Gotch, Thatcher is a throwback in every sense of the word – and a man who simply likes to inflict pain on his opponents. However, if anyone can match his technical wrestling skills – it’s The American Dragon, even if he’s only got one good wing.
Timothy Thatcher Puts Bryan Danielson Through Hell – MJF To Face Konosuke Takeshita
Thatcher would get a muted reaction from the AEW fans, but they would realize the skills of Thatcher during a quick sprawl as he went after the arm of Danielson. Forcing Danielson into the corner with some big uppercuts, Thatcher would find the opening to drive his knee into the shoulder.
Danielson would get the Dragon Screw Leg Whip, before tying up the legs of Thatcher in the middle of the ring. Thatcher was able to easily fight free before getting the Kimura Lock. Danielson would try to ball up to prevent the hold – only for Thatcher to lift him up and dangle him in the air by his shoulder.
Thatcher would keep the pressure on by choking Danielson near the ropes, before hitting a clubbing blow to the chest – and pulling Danielson back up by his nostrils. Danielson would be pulled into the ring for some uppercuts before an arm trapped suplex onto the mat for a two count.
Avalanche Butterfly Suplex would be set – and Danielson would be able to fight free with a headbutt. Missile Dropkick would follow, with Danielson landing on the shoulder – before Thatcher would be cut down with the round kicks. Buzzsaw Kick was blocked, and Danielson avoided the Fujiwara Armbar.
A backslide would be blocked into the armbar, and Danielson would fight his way to freedom and hit the Buzzsaw Kick. Hammer & Anvil Elbows would just piss Thatcher off, and the referee would be dropped in the corner. MJF tried to run in, but was taken out by Konosuke Takeshita. Fujiwara Armbar was applied, but Danielson got the bottom rope.
Running knee to the jaw would follow – and Danielson survives again. MJF & Takeshita would brawl to the back – and it would be made official that we will see this singles match next week.
Jade Cargill Is The Longest Reigning Champion In AEW History
Jade Cargill has a chance to not only win her 50th match tonight, but to do so against her first professional wrestling opponent ever. All the way back in March 2021, Cargill would team with NBA Legend Shaq to defeat Cody Rhodes & Red Velvet. Since then, Velvet & Cargill have been both rivals and allies – with Velvet recently leaving the side of Cargill to strike it out on her own. With both the TBS Championship and winning streak on the line, Cargill has everything to lose – and Velvet has everything to gain.
Velvet would start hot, getting the Thesz Press and some quick punches. Cargill would throw Velvet off and hit a back elbow smash, before being sent to the floor. Velvet hit the Wrecking Ball dropkick through the ropes, before whipping Velvet into the barricade. Back in the ring, a Wheelbarrow Bulldog would be blocked into a German Suplex for a two count.
Cargill would smash the face of Velvet into the corner before choking her with the boot. Velvet was sent to the floor as Cargill celebrated a bit early – only to be driven into the barricade and hit with a PK off the apron. Cargill would catch a crossbody into a press slam, carrying Velvet up the stairs and throwing her into the ring.
Velvet was thrown across the ring by Cargill, but came back with a Codebreaker. On the floor, Kiera Hogan took out Leyla Grey – allowing for the distraction. Velvet hit the KO shot, but the referee didn’t catch the pinfall. Short Arm Scissor would be applied, but Cargill was able to fight free. Jaded followed – and that’s 50-0 for Cargill.
