When it comes to factions in the history of AEW, one that is often forgotten is The Pinnacle. Formed by MJF to battle with Chris Jericho’s inner circle, the group contained manager Tully Blanchard, tag team specialists in FTR, a powerhouse in Wardlow & the steel chair obsessed Shawn Spears. The group would only last a year, with a loose alliance remaining between FTR & Wardlow noticed in recent months. However, the group might have originally also spread to the women’s division, with two top names considered.
Dax Harwood Reveals The Pinnacle Wanted Britt Baker Or Serena Deeb
On a recent episode of his podcast, Dax Harwood would have a chance to speak about the plans to bring a female member into the mix. Harwood would mention that both Britt Baker & Serena Deeb were considered for the group.
“We really wanted Britt Baker, and there were talks of Britt being in the group, but Britt is a standalone star, no one needs to mess with her, she’s great. The other one that I really wanted and talk to Tony Khan about, he was pretty excited and had the idea, was Serena Deeb. Up until that point, she had been a babyface, but I thought she really fit what the Pinnacle was, especially Cash and myself, just an incredible wrestler who is considered a badass among the women. Those are the two, and the closest was probably Serena Deeb.”
Female Members In AEW Factions Have Started To Happen
Ultimately, the faction would not last long enough to grow. We have seen female members in men’s faction since then however, with Tay Melo & Anna Jay set as key members of the Jericho Appreciation Society. If The Pinnacle lasted longer, it seems likely they would have gained a female member in time.
Adding in another member to open up matches in the women’s division would have potentially given The Pinnacle more depth. The faction seemed doomed from the start, only really existing to push the feud between MJF & Chris Jericho to it’s next stages – with little thought given beyond that premise.
