Earlier today the news broke that Roman Reigns did not face Goldberg at the tapings for Wrestlemania. Due to health concerns, he was not one of the men who went ahead and performed for the event, despite being the face of the company. This is understandable given his recent battle with leukemia, and there will always be another day to do Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg. However, this is Wrestlemania and the Universal Championship needs to be defended. The replacement seems to have been the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman.
The Match Will Be Set Up On Smackdown
While Roman has pulling out of Wrestlemania was revealed today, the episodes of Smackdown & Wrestlemania have been taped in advance meaning the show will go on. An angle was reportedly recorded for Smackdown to set up the match between Strowman & Goldberg, and it should get people excited for this match despite the short build. This Wrestlemania is already a weird one, why not change the Universal Championship match at the last minute.
It has been reported that Goldberg nearly didn’t go through with the match given the sudden change, but the Universal Championship was still defended at the event.
Is Braun Strowman A Good Option?
With Goldberg being so limited in the ring at this point, you need a talented agile worker like Roman Reigns to make him look like the legend he is portrayed as. Braun Strowman is not that worker, but they could still put on a spectacle that could finally be the ticket for Strowman as a main event star. He is a man who will dwarf Goldberg, and that Goldberg will be physically incapable of getting up for the jackhammer to finish him off. This will be an interesting matchup for that reason, it will be a quick heavyweight car crash of a match.
Strowman is a man who has earned the respect of Roman through their clashes in the past, making him a smart choice to step up and start what Roman finished. Once the COVID-19 outbreak is done, you can do a match like Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg at any time, it doesn’t need a championship to be big. Do you think Braun Strowman will walk out of Wrestlemania 36 as Universal Champion? Or is he the next victim of Goldberg? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
