It’s becoming harder to recall a time when women’s wrestling was not given a spotlight in companies like WWE. Since the Divas Revolution in 2015, we would start to see them get more ring time – and the likes of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and more really start to climb to the card – with WrestleMania main events being the peak.
However, one name who was crucial in this revolution is Paige (now Saraya in AEW), who has recently popped up in All Elite Wrestling for an in-ring return after a premature retirement.
Saraya Feels Alicia Fox Remains Very Underrated By Wrestling Fans
While speaking with Josh Martinez on Superstar Crossover, Saraya would have a chance to prop up one of the other ladies who belongs in the conversation of helping the women of WWE hit that next level. That being Alicia Fox – who Saraya had the following to say about.
“So I actually posted this recently, but like, I feel like Alicia Fox didn’t get her flowers for the longest time. Because if you look back at her stuff, it’s everything looks aggressive, but she’s safe. All her matches were good. You have to watch them back. Because every time I wrestled her, I felt really, really safe. So I felt like she was very underrated. Also, she was in the Divas era. So if people didn’t give her the chance, and just thought, ‘No, she’s a diva, she could possibly be a good wrestler,’ but no, she was a great wrestler.”
While Fox lacks many true standout matches due to the era of WWE that she worked in, you’d be hard pressed to find a lot of sloppy ring work from her.
She had a rough start like most do in the company, but once she found her pace – she could reasonably work with anyone. Put her debut in the company a few years later than it was, and we could well have seen Fox really get to showcase her skills more during her prime years.
