Since 2019, we’ve seen a variety of names at the commentary desk in All Elite Wrestling. With legendary announcers like Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Taz in their mix – they have had no shortage of perfect names to call all the action.
However from day one, Excalibur has been the star of the show, being their main play-by-play announcer. His wrestling knowledge is clear, and his time calling shows in Pro Wrestling Guerilla had him familiar with the likes of Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks. Schiavone loves working with Excalibur – and has high praise for him.
Tony Schiavone Thinks Excalibur Might Be The Best Play-By-Play Commentator He’s Worked With
On a recent episode of What Happens When, Tony Schiavone would praise his broadcast partners on AEW Dynamite. He’d have especially high praise for Excalibur, calling him one of the best play-by-play announcers he’s ever worked with – and perhaps the best overall. Schiavone had the following to say.
“As much as anything else, I really enjoy working with Taz and Excalibur. I just love it. I think Taz is just a joy to work with. Excalibur I think is one of the best, if not the best, play-by-play man I’ve ever worked with. He’s different from J.R. J.R. was the emotion. He was like the Larry Munson emotion of it. Excalibur is the technical. I’m sitting here doing my role and loving what I’m doing because there’s no pressure. The pressure is on Excalibur, not me.”
Schiavone has been active in professional wrestling since 1983, and has been doing commentary since 1984. Over his career, he’s called over a thousand professional wrestling events.
He’s worked with some of the best in the game, and is someone qualified to make a call like this . Excalibur is only getting better at his job as he gains more and more experience – and is the voice of All Elite Wrestling as a result.
