One of the main goals of WWE NXT is to create the next generation of stars for shows like Monday Night RAW & Smackdown Live. The likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and more all got their starts as part of the NXT roster – but it’s the female roster that truly shows the success of NXT.
Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch were at the front of the push for more chances on the WWE roster, and have inspired many to enter the ring. Right now, Tiffany Stratton is pushing to be the next big WWE star. She credits Charlotte Flair with inspiring her.
Tiffany Stratton Was Inspired By Charlotte Flair To Join WWE
During a recent interview with the Stick To Wrestling podcast – Tiffany Stratton would reveal that it was seeing Charlotte Flair succeed that made her interested in a career in WWE. Stratton was quoted saying the following.
“One day, I was watching TV with my family. We’re flipping through the channels and come across wrestling — I believe it was Friday Night SmackDown. It was Charlotte Flair that I saw on the TV screen. My mother was like, ‘You can totally do that.’
I was taken aback a little bit because I saw Charlotte, someone who was jacked and could do all these cool moves. She was a gymnast like I was. She’s blonde and gorgeous. I just connected with it right off the bat — because I saw a little bit of me in Charlotte.”
A Frontrunner To Win The NXT Women’s Championship
Right now, Stratton is a frontrunner to win a tournament to crown the next NXT Women’s Champion. The belt was left vacant after Indi Hartwell was called up to the main roster. Stratton was successful in her first match of the tournament, defeating Gigi Dolin in under five minutes.
Lyra Valkyria would also advance in the tournament, defeating Kiana James in her first match of the tournament. Jacy Jayne, Cora Jade, Fallon Henley & Roxanne Perez have yet to have their first matches in the tournament. Those matches are expected to come tonight on WWE NXT.
