For decades, Sting has been the benchmark in the wrestling industry as one of the top stars and for doing some of the crazier stunts like regularly dropping from the rafters in WCW despite Owen Hart’s tragic death in WWE.
He’s had some of the greatest moments and feuds in wrestling history like his feud with the nWo where he came from the rafters to his matches with Ric Flair that are among the best ever.
He and Flair even share the distinction of having the first match in WCW and the final one on the final episode of Nitro after the WWE bought the company.
Sting Received a Standing Ovation Following AEW Dynamite
After wrestling for TNA and WWE, Sting suffered what was then a career ending injury in the WWE. He was eventually medically cleared and joined AEW where he’s wrestled sparingly.
Despite being 64 years old and his previous injury, he hasn’t shied away from some of the more dangerous bumps, including one that was impressive for anyone at any age on AEW Dynamite.

In a tornado tag team match between he and Darby Alin versus Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara, he more than held his own and he and Jericho spent a good time together center stage.
He ended up winning the match for his team by making Jericho to tap out.
His performance was more than well received as fans gave him a standing ovation after AEW Dynamite went off the air.

How much is left?
Sting previously said he’s considering retiring later this year, but during the Forbidden Door post show media scrum he seemed to walk those comments back by saying All In at Wembley Stadium will not be his last match.
He also strongly hinted that it was his idea to do this match, and that could mean the crazy table spot was his idea.
This came after he reportedly botched the table spot at Forbidden Door when he mistimed when to roll off the table and took Sammy’s splash.
For the time being, it looks like Father Time has given Sting a pass for the time being and we’re excited to see what else he has in mind to close out his career and how long he intends to wrestle.
One thing for sure is he doesn’t have anything left to prove, so this is something he’s doing simply because he enjoys it.
What do you think is next for him? Will he continue to mentor Darby or take others under his wing? Let us know in the comments below.
