When Athena had ended her time as Ember Moon in WWE and signed with All Elite Wrestling – it was an instant boost to the division.
Athena would quickly begin to challenge for top titles in AEW, before winning the Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship.
Focusing her efforts on ROH, she would quickly prove she’s still on the top of her game – and intends to spearhead a movement to get Tony Khan to put together an all women PPV event.
An All Women’s Show Is The Ultimate Goal
While speaking with Steve Fall on the Ten Count podcast, Athena would say that she hopes to see Tony Khan put together and all female PPV event using the AEW & ROH rosters. When asked if there’s a chance this happens – Athena had the following to say.
“Absolutely. That’s the cool thing with Tony Khan; anything is a possibility. You never know what’s going on in his crazy head. I know that every time any woman from the AEW locker room, the ROH locker room, we’re going out there to prove a point that we deserve the position we’re put in. The fans are loving it, it’s our heart put on a platter. Of course, that would be the ultimate goal, to do an all-women’s pay-per-view with Ring of Honor and AEW. That is the ultimate goal down the road. I know every locker room across the board; Collision, Dynamite, Rampage, Ring of Honor, that’s something we all want, it’s just a matter of time.”
Recently, there has been talks of AEW expanding their PPV schedule to have a big show every month of the year. Fitting in a women’s focused PPV would be easy, and there is more than enough talent to support this show and make it a must see show.
Athena Is A Belt Collector
During the same interview, Athena would be asked about the potential of a unification match with either the AEW Women’s World or TBS Champions. She would welcome the chance to take more gold for herself. Athena was quoted saying the following.
“Let’s be honest, if I’m in the mix, whether it be Toni Storm, Kris Statlander, whoever is AEW Champion or TBS Champion, I’m down for that fight and I will take all the belts. I’ll be a belt collector. I’ve never done that. Let me write that on my bucket list. Triple champ.”
