What started as a match over the top prize of Pro Wrestling WAVE as Hikaru Shida looked to take down The Bunny – AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter would raise the stakes. The winner not only gets the Regina Di WAVE Championship, but also a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship. This makes this a massive chance for the former champion in Shida, and for The Bunny – who is looking to prove she’s better than ever after her recent return from injury.
Hikaru Shida Cuts Down The Bunny To Retain Regina Di WAVE Championship, Earns Shot At AEW Women’s World Championship
The Bunny would have Penelope Ford at ringside for this match, as Shida would tackle Bunny and press her against the ropes. Bunny would trade strikes with Shida in the middle of the ring, being dropped with a sliding elbow strike before a scoop slam. Shida would take a running knee lift from Bunny, before hitting an enziguri.
Bunny would apply a headscissor lock over the top rope, using every moment of the referee’s five count to massive success. Shida would hit a headbutt, before taking a stunner over the top rope. Behind the back of the referee, Ford would choke Shida briefly – setting up a two count from Bunny.
Shida attempted a vertical suplex, with Bunny blocking into a Small Package before a jumping lariat. Bunny would stomp Shida into the corner, before hitting a sliding elbow strike to the jaw before some back elbow strikes to the neck. Shida would take a superkick in the middle of the ring, before Bunny looked for Down The Rabbit Hole, only for Shida to hit it instead.
Ford would slide a kendo stick in the ring, breaking up a pinfall before Shida would go after her with a meteora off the apron. Falcon Arrow would land in the ring, before The Katana for the victory. Shida remains Regina De WAVE Champion, and has a chance to become a two time AEW Women’s World Champion.
Athena Wants More Than A Championship
Athena has a chance to become the ROH Women’s World Champion tomorrow, and tonight has a chance to speak. She’s found her edge in AEW, taking liberties with talent on AEW Dark – and even Mercedes Martinez will have a hard time matching that aggression tomorrow.
We’d get a video package detailing the history of Athena & Martinez in the Shimmer promotion – with Athena stating her goals. While she would enjoy defeating Martinez to win that ROH Women’s World Championship? She would also love to retire Martinez in the process.
The Firm Sends A Clear Message
The Firm is in a weird spot in AEW, having lost their links to MJF due to Stokely Hathaway being too eager to beat Jon Moxley down. W. Morrissey & Lee Moriarty are in action here tonight, looking to make fast work of Clayton Bloodstone & Izzy James – and send a message to the AEW roster that they’re not to be ignored.
Moriarty would kick things off with Bloodstone, shoving him into the corner where the mere sight of Morrissey put fear in his heart. Bloodstone would have his leg tied up in the middle of the ring, with James unable to make the save – ending up in a submission himself.
Moriarty would be kicked into a tag from Morrissey, before Bloodstone was put on the top rope and run down with a big boot. Back in the ring, James was dropped with a chokeslam for the finish. That was a dominant win, and potentially one that puts the AEW tag team division on notice.
