WWE Friday Night SmackDown is on tonight and the show begins with, somewhat unexpectedly, a Moment of Bliss with our WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. The hosts welcome the new WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman to the show. Alexa and Braun brought up their history together, Team Little Big being perhaps the most popular pairing of the Mixed Match Challenge days. It’s established that they’re still good friends evidently. They congratulate each other on their respective WrestleMania title victories. Alexa then shows a replay of Bray Wyatt challenging Braun last week and asks for his comment. Braun explains that he knows Bray Wyatt better than anyone and his past with him is something that he’s trying to forget. He says that Bray is a master of making people question themselves and even reality as a whole. But he won’t play those games.
As the discussion continues however, Braun notices a gift box in the corner behind Alexa and Nikki. Strowman thought that Alexa had gotten him a present for the visit, telling her she didn’t have to as he happily went over to grab it. Alexa was visibly confused and said she didn’t get anything but Braun waves that off like a joke. Nikki isn’t able to explain it either. Braun opens up the gift and his expression sours. He pulls out a black sheep mask, the same kind that he wore during his days in the Wyatt Family. Braun shakes with anger as we hear Bray Wyatt’s usual looped laugh track and an image of Strowman in his debut years with the mask on flash onto the screen.
Sasha Banks comes out to face off with Tamina in our next match. If Tamina wins this match, she will face off with Bayley with the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line. Bayley opted to make this match herself as we see in a replay, much to Sasha’s bemusement. It’s brought up that Sasha questioned what she’d get out of this match if she won and Bayley made it pretty clear that it was purely for pride… not a title match.
Before the bell Sasha hands Tamina a Sasha Banks t-shirt as some kind of peace offering. It’s clearly way too small for her and Tamina even comments that it’s a Small when she wears an XL. Tamina tosses the shirt out of the ring and at Bayley who is happy to accept it. The match then begins…
