Rey Fenix is the new AEW International Champion – putting an early end to the reign of Jon Moxley. Now, it’s time for the work of a champion as Fenix will defend the belt in an open challenge. Answering the call is a legend of the industry, finally looking to make this belt his – Jeff Jarrett.
Rey Fenix Thinks Fast To Defeat Jeff Jarrett
Ensuring he started fast, Fenix would springboard into a crossbody as Jarrett was still making his entrance. A series of superkicks would follow, before Jarrett was rolled into the ring.
The bell would finally ring, making the match official – and Jarrett would take control. Fenix would be put throat first on the middle rope, and Jarrett rushed in with a leg drop.
A DDT would spike Fenix on his head – but Jarrett needed to recover. Distracting the referee, Jarrett would allow for Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal to attack Fenix on the floor – before coming out to throw Fenix over the barricade into the crowd. Back in the ring, Jarrett would hit clubbing blows to the back of Fenix.
Fenix would fight back with some chops, but Jarrett noticed damage to the leg of Fenix – and would go after the knee. This would get a brief advantage, before Fenix recovered and hit a Springboard Double Stomp to the chest. Lethal would prevent Frog Splash by getting on the apron, but Fenix kicked him in the face.
Jarrett would manage the Stroke on Fenix – but was too close to the ropes when making the pinfall, it was an easy break for Fenix. Figure Four Leg Lock would be attempted, but Fenix blocked with a roll up, getting the victory.
Adam Cole Catches A Big One
Adam Cole would join MJF on his boat – and was sporting a cast boot. MJF would take them out to sea for some fishing, and bring up the long phone call that Cole had with Roderick Strong.
Cole would correctly guess that MJF took him out here with plans to hit him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring and put Cole into the ocean to drown.
MJF would have Cole explain that having two friends is normal, and while Cole was talking with Strong – he’s still MJF’s friend. They would catch something on their line – this being Paul Wight in a floaty duck. He joined them on their boat for some beers, and said they’re good dudes.
Sammy Guevara Officially Joins Don Callis Family
The Don Callis Family has grown – with Sammy Guevara betraying Chris Jericho to join up with Callis & Konosuke Takeshita.
Add in Will Ospreay, and you have three of the best young wrestlers in the world – who are ready to delete the old guard. This Sunday at WrestleDream they face Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi & Chris Jericho – but have a chance to speak tonight.
It was hard for Callis to get a word in over the boo’s of the crowd – but he would say he was happy to officially add Guevara to the family – having freed him from the toxic friendship with Jericho.
Callis would say that Takeshita & him went to Tokyo, and would track down Ibushi’s dojo. They’d beat up his students, before Takeshita took on The Golden Star himself.
It took both of and a kettlebell to take Ibushi down, all to send a message to Kenny Omega and everyone – nowhere is safe from the Don Callis Family.
The Family has never been stronger, especially with Guevara having joined. Guevara was shown that Jericho is selfish, and would never hand him the torch – so now he’ll just take it. This Sunday, they will take everything from Jericho, Ibushi & Omega.
