Rey Fenix was set to face Jon Moxley tonight to end their trilogy – but Moxley was unable to compete tonight due to a concussion suffered at the hands of Fenix.
Instead, Fenix will defend the AEW International Championship against former champion Orange Cassidy – who is ready to go on another dominant title reign with the belt he put on the professional wrestling map.
Orange Cassidy Claims The AEW International Championship For The Second Time
Cassidy would rush right into Fenix as the match begun, but a superkick would land to put him down for the frog splash. Fenix would get a near fall, trying to end this match as soon as possible due to his back issues.
Countering the Fenix driver, Cassidy was able to exploit this injury with a dropkick to the spine. Fenix was sent to the floor, and thrown over the barricade to the floor.
Regaining control back in the ring, Fenix would try for the Muscle Buster. Cassidy was able to prevent this before hitting the Diving DDT, and followed up with a Huge Satellite DDT for the near fall. Orange Punch would be blocked with a superkick, but a Rolling Cutter would be stopped as Fenix’s back gave out.
Break would set up the Orange Punch before the Mouse Trap pinfall – making Orange Cassidy the AEW International Champion once again.
Nearly one year to the day when he first won the belt, Cassidy is once again the AEW International Champion. Last time, he went 326 days as champion – but can he pull a reign like that off twice?
Wardlow Crushes Matt Sydal With Four Powerbombs
Wardlow is back, and he’s not wasting time getting back into big matches. He tore through Griff Garrison last week with a brutal series of powerbombs – and tonight, he will step into the ring against an established veteran with Matt Sydal. Having a 2-0 record in 2023, Sydal is ready to test himself against Wardlow.
Sydal would try to rush in as the match began, but Wardlow would drive him into the corner for a series of shoulder tackles.
The first powerbomb would land, and another would follow moments later. Last week it was a referee stoppage after five powerbombs – and Sydal wasn’t able to survive four before being stopped. Wardlow would leave through the audience, another dominant performance for the former TNT Champion.
Will Wardlow dominate his way right to the AEW World Heavyweight Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
