BS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers here with the next stop on the Katherine the Great themed week. This time, we’re going to be treated with the continuation of the previous episode. It’s a good thing too, as we were curious how they would handle the continuity concerns seeing so many plot points left dangling as they moved onto another.
That problem was avoided here as this episode premiered on July 6, 2004 and picks up after Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper)’s failed intervention.

Intervention 2.0
If there’s one thing these episodes have taught us at CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers is that planning your own intervention doesn’t work. It does add to the tragedy of Katherine’s life as, despite her protests to the contrary, part of her obviously wants to be saved. She just needs or wants the right inspiration to jump back on the wagon.
Since her living family and friends can’t convince her, it looks like some otherworldly help is on the way with family members that died by her drunken hand or, in the case of Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz), didn’t die at all but felt being a ghost here was warranted to convince Katherine not to drink anymore.
Yeah, not the most well thought out plot point, but it’s still a powerful moment as Katherine’s faced with her husband, who died while she was drunk driving.
This is arguably her greatest moment as a character and actress as we’ll get to see her near her lowest point. Will she have the strength to pull herself out of her situation and climb onto the wagon?
Well… nah. There’s no fun in that. Besides, we all know the answer. Let’s just sit back and enjoy these episodes for the classics they are. Few things are better than being swept away in our memories, but it’s even better when they’re great ones we don’t get to relive every often.
With the week underway, CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers are looking forward to other gems that are planned for our viewing pleasure.
Memorable moments
One thing this week has done is rekindled a love for the older episodes that may make it hard to go back to the newer ones when they come back. This is the double-edged sword networks deal with when airing reruns, but it’s also something they should consider doing daily either before the new episodes or on another network.
As fans, we’d fall all over ourselves to watch this and others from the beginning. Just imagine all the history we’d get to be a part of once more? How awesome would that be?
Two days into this week’s theme has been a hit so far, so what Katherine-based episodes would you like to see over the next couple of days? Any particulars or are any of them good with you? Let us know in the comments, and check back with CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
