AEW Dark continues. We just saw the former Alan Angels welcomed into the Dark Order, now going purely by 5. He comes out in a mask, alongside Alex Reynolds, John Silver and 10 – the latter of which with his arm in a sling, still selling the attack from Jon Moxley a few weeks ago. In his first official match with the group, 5 takes on Lee Johnson. Typing out a number over and over is gonna look a little off in the recap but that’s his name now so hey. Sort of a funny match-up when you consider that Lee and himself came into the company at the same time and were in much the same role a week ago.
5 vs. Lee Johnson
5 charges and drives him into the corner, punches in bunches until he drops him to the mat. Whips him to the ropes, knife edge chop brings him to the mat. 5 whips him to the corner, Lee with a floatover, catches him with a couple arm drags and a nice dropkick that brings him to the ramp. 5 looks to his Dark Order friends, they stand still as statues. Lee comes up to pull 5 back into the ring but instead 5 throws him straight into the ringpost and he bounces off to the floor! Slams him into the apron and then throws him into the ring, Springing Dropkick for a 2 count! Singles out an arm and hits a splash onto it, interesting. He’s been aiming at that arm the whole time. Lee fights back with forearms, but 5 wrings the damaged arm on an Irish Whip attempt, wringer takes him down and then he hoists him onto his shoulders, into a Spinebuster for a nearfall!
Steps on his arm and goes for another splash, Lee evades it this time. Tries to fight back, back elbows, hits a clothesline that flips him inside out! Another clothesline, ducks some shots and there’s an Armbreaker as a bit of revenge! Slick Neckbreaker, Single Leg Basement Dropkick! Tosses him between the ropes to the post and sends him to the floor, hits the ropes and there’s the tope taking him out! Throws him into the ring, ducks a clotheslines and a Blue Thunder Bomb for a close nearfall! 5 slips to the apron, snaps the arm over the top rope and there’s a brutal DDT spiking him onto the apron! Brodie Lee comes out to the ramp and directs 5 to finish him. Hooks both arms, hits a move a bit like a Backstabber except instead of the knees he drives the soles of his boots into his spine! That is that!
Winner: 5
Solid work! Interesting to see these newer guys actually face each other this time around and they did well. 5’s new finish is cool too, distinct. Afterwards, the others come into the ring. Lee Johnson is pulled up by 5, 10 with a huge pump kick, injured or no! 5 sends Lee into the Silver & Reynolds who nail a tandem front flip DDT to leave him laid out! Brodie Lee looks very pleased with his faction as they stand tall. Kinda nice seeing the underlings of the group shine a little.
