Social media is a powerful tool, and one that needs to be respected when it comes to interacting with anyone. We got a very grim reminder of what can happen when people go too far earlier this year with Hana Kimura, who committed suicide after intense cyber bullying. This should have been a wake up call, but you can’t change the internet. While this case is less dire, we have Alexa Bliss who just locked her Twitter account after being harassed and stalked online.
Alexa Bliss Taking A Break From Social Media For The Good Of Her Mental Health
Being such a public name like Alexa Bliss is, having 1.4 million Twitter followers, you have to imagine that for every positive tweet sent her way, there’s about four or five just spewing pure hatred her way. You’ll commonly see people go after her for how she’s portrayed on TV, her looks, and her personal relationships. This will always reach a tipping point, and Bliss reached hers.
She is fine however. After a fan reached out to Nikki Cross to have someone check on her, Bliss would respond herself with “I’m fine. Just tired of the harassment. Focusing on my mental health at the moment. Everyone stay kind out there.”
An Attempted Hack Followed
Obsessive fans will always find a way, and with the inability to send harassment her way, they took another route. After having locked down her account to get a break, her email would be flooded with password reset attempts. This is a crude way of trying to hack someone, and thankfully this didn’t work this time around. Instead Bliss would share a long screenshot of the attempts, with the following caption. “Because I make my Twitter private, doesn’t give you the right to try to hack it.”
Just be kind of people online. If you don’t like someone, you don’t need to hound and harass them to the point where they set their accounts to private. It has been a rough 24 hours for Bliss online, and she has a huge match ahead of her tonight. She’ll team with Nikki Cross to face both Sasha Banks & Bayley as well as The Iconics to try to reclaim the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Who do you see walking away with the win?
