Ahead of their match for the TNT Championship at Fyter Fest, Cody Rhodes and the Nightmare Family were set to meet with Jake Hager & The Inner Circle for a press conference. Hager would be a no show at first, so Cody would take questions from the press in the meantime.
Cody Rhodes & Arn Anderson Take Questions From The Press
The first question would be about Jake Hagers tardiness, which Anderson pointed out was normal for Hager, implying that he was a coward. He’s kept his distance thus far, and is doing the same thing now out of fear. Next Cody would be asked about being the TNT Champion, and he’d go on to say he’s been elevating AEW and people like Ricky Starks during his reign, and it’s only just begun. He’s taking professional wrestling seriously, and that’s something he prides himself on.
Jake Hager Shows Up
Alongside his wife, Hager would finally make his way to the press conference. He’d call for the camera man to get the featured image for this conference, and get face to face with Cody. After some deep breathes from both, and many pictures being taken, things would get physical when Cody would slap the hand of Hager away. Hagers wife would then throw water at Cody, trying to provoke him further. His pride hurt and suit wet, he’d hold back and wait for Fyter Fest.
While Hager could have tried to choke him out on the spot, that’d be a foolish move with legends like Dustin Rhodes & Arn Anderson right there. Instead, Hager played this game perfectly, and is now inside the head of Cody. The mental war in a wrestling match can be as important as the physical, which is something both men know.
This has the potential to be an excellent wrestling match at Fyter Fest. Both men have extensive amateur backgrounds, are former world champions, and have backup at the ready in the forms of The Nightmare Family & The Inner Circle.
