Mustafa Ali was reported to be unhappy with SmackDown and wanted to move to RAW. Which happened weeks ago without too much glamour. The move was going to be done with discretion.
Here’s how Mustafa Ali felt about the previous situation with SD:
Yeah man. It’s real nice to be in your prime and wanting to use the exposure you get to bring light to serious topics, but instead forced to the sidelines for reasons beyond your control. Real nice to not be allowed to do what you’re passionate about.
But, recent news has arrived, and the WWE webpage puts Mustafa Ali still on SmackDown. Ringside News reported on the trigger and pull between Ali and WWE. It seems that Ali was a bit tired of being ignored by Bruce Prichard and wanted to join the red brand. Noting that, in those moments, Paul Hayman was in RAW, which is not the case right now.
As Felix Upton reported, Ali posted on Twitter a cryptic tweet signaling his return to the blue brand.
I now realize the weight that comes with the name Mustafa Ali. – Mustafa Ali on Twitter
Super Luchas extracted some inside reports of the situation:
A WWE writer told us that Ali wanted to rebrand because ‘he was tired of being ignored by Bruce Prichard and Ed Koskey.’
Mustafa Ali went to Vince McMahon and asked to be changed to Raw because at the time, under Paul Heyman, Raw was building into the future with new stars. According to our source, Vince McMahon rejected all of the ideas for Ali’s hacking story that Heyman and the Raw creative team presented to him.
They described him to us as Mustafa Ali, who is loved by his peers, is ‘stuck in limbo’. Vince McMahon’s new philosophy of not waiting to build new Superstars and only putting pressure on those who are already established didn’t work in Mustafa Ali’s favor either.
From here the situation puts Ali once again in a strange limbo. He’s a great star that, before his injury, was poised to make a big run in the blue brand. But now, it seems that not even the main bookers of SD believe in him. Moreover, as this reports state, the head of the company, Vince, seems to have lost fate on Ali. It would be a surprise to see Prichard trying something with the former prospect on SmackDown.
