Right now in New Japan Pro Wrestling, they are working exclusively with the talents that were located within Japan before COVID-19 hit. A good chunk of their roster lives elsewhere, like Will Ospreay in the UK, and KENTA & Rocky Romero in the United States. Due to travel restrictions, none of these men were able to make their way back to Japan for shows. This has lead to people like Yujiro Takahashi getting a higher level of prominance, and also could have been a reason behind EVIL’s rushed run to the top of New Japan Pro Wrestling. However, atleast two talents could be on their way home to Japan.
Will Ospreay & Juice Robinson Could Make Their Way Home From The UK
Japan is starting to reopen, and that will involve allowing foreign residents back into the country. This will begin in August, while some countries like the United States will still have a travel ban, somewhere like the UK is a much safer bet. Both Ospreay & Robinson had went to the UK before everything went mad, but are residents of Japan at the end of the day. The door will soon be open for them to return, and they’ll both be ready to hop right back into action. While Robinson has stayed quiet, we have a better idea of whats going on with Ospreay.
Ospreay Is Going To Come Back As A Proper Heavyweight
Prior to leaving Japan to visit family in the UK between tours, Ospreay left the Junior Heavyweight division. This came when he won the RPW British Heavyweight Championship. He had beaten everyone there was in that division, and it was time to find new challenges. Coming back to Japan, he’s going to look like a whole new person. He’s put some serious hours into the gym, and while he will still be able to perform some of his old high flying moves, we’re going to get a taste of what a proper heavyweight Ospreay is capable of. We can assume he might have won the original New Japan Cup as his proper introduction to the division, but we will see where he’ll fit into the mess of NJPW upon his return.
Japan is also going to open up business travel to nearby countries like New Zealand & Austrailia soon, opening the gates for men like Jay White & Robbie Eagles to return. Who are you missing most from New Japan Pro Wrestling? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
