Wrestlings Living Dead Girl has found a home in wrestling, signing with All Elite Wrestling. She’s had two matches for the company, a loss to Hikaru Shida on AEW Dark months ago, and a victory over Anna Jay on a recent episode of Dynamite. This win was unexpected, as the stage was set for Jay to have her big debut, only to be snuffed out by Abadon. Following that win, she would be announced as a signee of the company, and while she’s unrefined, she’s got huge upside, and Kenny Omega knows this.
Kenny Omega Sees The Potential Of Abadon
While on screen he’s one half of the tag team championships, Kenny Omega has another role in AEW. Behind the scenes, he’s a key force behind the women’s division creative direction. Seeing Abadon, he saw someone dedicated to their character.
“When I see a character like Abadon…I see someone who’s committed themselves 100% to a character that appeals to people that are interesting, aside from wrestling. I know that that’s like a real diamond in the rough and something that I want to see develop something that I want to nurture…Abadon checks a lot of real cool boxes and I’m super excited to see her development.”
Omega would also explain what makes her character so good, the fact that she came to them with it already defined. It is her own creation.
“For Abadon, for that character to be her, that is something that she wants to do. That is something that she feels comfortable in her own skin doing. You see the commitment behind the performance and that is so important.”
When wrestlers get to have control over how their character is presented and built, things work all the better. This is the case of men like Bray Wyatt with The Fiend, or Darby Allin, and now Abadon. You can refine wrestling skills, but showing up with a character? That is what makes the job of a trainer easy. She already strikes fear in the hearts of fans, and that will only get stronger.
