AEW Dynamite Results: Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho II

In what is being called the biggest rematch in AEW history, we’re seeing another clash between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy. They had one of the best matches of 2020 in the main event of Fyter Fest, and now Cassidy has gotten under the skin of Jericho in a big way. He doused him in Orange Juice, beat him in a debate, and has all around embarrassed Jericho.

Jericho would recruit Mike Chioda as the referee for the match, who is going to call it right down the middle, which Jericho thinks meant he’s in his corner for this one, waiting for a signal. Best Friends & Inner Circle were banned from ringside. With 7000$ on the line for the ruined jacket of Jericho, could Orange Cassidy redeem his previous loss?

Orange Cassidy Is Really Trying This Time

Last time we saw these two lock up, we didn’t know what to expect. That was part of what made the match so good, as no one expected OC to take Jericho to his limits like he did with PAC, but that was what happened. This time, Jericho knows to not take him lightly, and OC can’t play around. They need to get right into the action.

OC would tease putting his hands into his pockets, but then throw hands with Jericho. He’d pelt Jericho in the corner, then drop him with a running shoulder tackle and clothesline him over the top. OC would nail a crossbody over the top, showing full effort in this one.

Jericho would be wiped into the apron, as the aggressive approach from OC would be working very well. OC would put his hands in his pockets as he fell off the top rope onto Jericho, a daring move. A diving DDT would connect, but only get a two count. It was a strong start, but OC might have played his hold hand in the opening minutes of the match.

    Chris Jericho Takes Control

Chris Jericho would get into the match by countering the Superman Punch with a big boot, hitting a big back suplex and slowing the pace down. OC would be dumped onto the apron, and a triangle dropkick would catch him in the face, sending him hard to the mat.

We’d go into a commercial break, throughout which Jericho would slowly beat down OC with suplexes and strikes, keeping things simple. Coming back, OC would be held up in a long stalling suplex, then dropped hard to the mat for a two count.

OC would fight back, but be shut down with a shot to the throat followed by a crisp Lionsault for a nearfall. The King Of Sloth Style would throw some dangerous strikes, playing with Jericho. Jericho would swing back, but OC suddenly dodged and hit a superkick.

A huge lariat would run Jericho through, and a crossbody would get a two count. Jericho went for the Codebreaker, but OC caught the leg and hit two dragon screw leg whips, but the third would be countered. OC would come off the middle rope for a hurricanrana, but be trapped in the Walls Of Jericho instead.

Only One Man Could Walk Away With The Win

OC wouldn’t have to fight his way to the ropes, as he’d twist and grab Jericho into a rollup for a near fall to break the hold. Jericho would now be the one in a submission, as OC locked in an ankle lock, but Jericho would counter out quickly.

A suplex would be countered into a stunner, but when OC would run in for the Tilt-A-Whirl DDT? He’d be shoved off and nailed with the Codebreaker. Jericho would grab his bat, Floyd and ask Choida to look away and do the right thing. He’d do it, for long enough to fool Jericho and grab the bat.

Jericho would get into the face of Chioda, giving OC a chance for the roll up. OC would hit the Michinoku Driver, and follow it with a PK. The Elbow pad would come off and a big elbow dropped Jericho. At this time, Inner Circle & Best Friends would flood the stage, with Hager slipping behind the referee.

OC would be slammed in the mat, and Jericho would flip over for the pin, getting a two count! They’d trade shots on their way to their feet, but a stealthy low blow from Jericho would stun OC. The Judas Effect would be launched, but OC dodged and rolled Jericho up and won! Orange Cassidy has joined Scorpio Sky & Jon Moxley in pinning Chris Jericho!

Did you like the first or second match between these men more? Are you excited for the finish to this trilogy?
