This Sunday at Summerslam, we will see Braun Strowman defend the Universal Championship against The Fiend. The feud has been going for months, with Strowman having defeated Bray Wyatt at Money in The Bank, before falling in a swamp fight at Extreme Rules. Now they’re going to have their third match, and this will be the end of this feud.
However, you’re not going to get a wrestling classic out of these two, as shown by the fact that they’ve had mainly cinematic or story heavy affairs so far. We’ll get that from Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre, but The Fiend vs. Braun Strowman will likely be a chaotic brawl.
WWE Ads On Facebook Advertise A Falls Count Anywhere Match For Braun Strowman & The Fiend
With WWE going to a new arena, one they’ve dubbed ‘The Thunderdome’, it’s time to use that space for something fun. In a sponsored ad from WWE on Facebook, fans would see a match card for The Fiend vs. Braun Strowman, with their match detailed as a Falls Count Anywhere match.
This would allow WWE to do something fun with this match, and insert cinematic elements as they brawl throughout the arena. It’s what fans want from this feud, and what works better for both Strowman & The Fiend. They thrive in these environments, and it’s always best to play for a wrestlers strengths.
These Ads Aren’t Entirely Trustworthy
It should be noted that these ads have been inaccurate in the recent past, as we’ve been through this with Extreme Rules. Before that event, fans would see an ad for Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler, detailing it as a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. That match was always going to have a stipulation, but it ended up being an Extreme Rules match for Ziggler while McIntyre wasn’t allowed to use weapons.
These ads are likely made long before the final plans for shows are made, and with the classic ‘Card Subject to Change’ disclaimer in play, they can change the stipulation on a dime. We will know if this stipulation is official on Smackdown Live, which is the go home show for Summerslam.
