Another NXT Takeover event has come and gone, and we’re left with the fallout of the situation. We have a new NXT Champion, number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships, and a huge women’s tag team clash. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, so let’s break down tonight’s action.
New NXT Champion Karrion Kross To Kick Off The Night
Keith Lee might be limitless, but his run as NXT Champion was not. In the main event of NXT Takeover XXX, he’d drop the title to Karrion Kross before showing up on Monday Night RAW to face Randy Orton. Karrion Kross will kick off tonight’s episode of NXT as the newest champion.
However his reign could be even shorter than that of Keith Lee’s, as he injured his shoulder during the title match, meaning that there is a chance he might have to vacate the championship. Hopefully that is not the case, and instead his first defense feud is set up.
Breezango To Face Imperium For The NXT Tag Team Championships
During the kickoff show for NXT Takeover XXX, Breezango once again became the number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships, beating the Brit-Am Brawlers & Legado Del Fantasma. They don’t have to wait to get their shot at Imperium, and will have their chance to become the champions tonight.
People haven’t been too impressed with Imperium as champions, but they’ve never truly gotten the spotlight in a big match. They won the titles in an underhanded way, and had two messy defenses. Hopefully either Breezango wins, or Imperium has a great showing.
Santos Escobar Defends The Cruiserweight Championship
In a match many were hoping for as part of NXT Takeover XXX, Santos Escobar will finally defend his NXT Cruiserweight Championship against the only man who has beaten him. This is of course, Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, who has been on top of the division for months now, waiting for his chance. Will Swerve become the new champion, or just Escobar’s first successful defense?
Rhea Ripley & Io Shirai Team Up
At NXT Takeover XXX, Io Shirai overcame Dakota Kai to remain NXT Women’s Champion, but the title picture is just more crowded. Kai’s enforcer Raquel Gonzalez wants a shot, and so does former champion Rhea Ripley. This will all come to a head in a big tag team match tonight, one that will likely set Shirai’s focus on a new challenger.
