WWE Smackdown has had many historical moments, and a ceremony where Roman Reigns will be crowned as tribal chief, with Paul Heyman presiding, is another notch in the show’s belt.
It’s also a lap in the face of (storyline) of his other family members that are well known, like say the Rock Dwayne Johnson.
The Rock has recently said he’d be honored to wrestler Reigns, so that match will happen at some point in the near future.
Collecting his due
We expect Reigns to address his brutality toward Jey as setting an example, or allowing to argument about his place at the head of the table.
Jimmy Uso may take offense at Reigns’ claim, especially since he was the one that threw in the towel for is brother.
Of course, he could also be on Reigns’ side, though this feels unlikely.
We think his crowning will be contested by his cousins, and this will lead to a brief feud as Jey was expecting a fight along what they used to have instead of how Reigns came out.
It’s only natural for Reigns to be forced to put his family in order through any means necessary, which could conclude with him facing the Rock at Survivor Series.
Potential conflicts
Outside of his family, the main natural feud for Reigns would be against King Corbin, who may not like having a rival as royalty.
This has a couple of potential issues, the main one being few want to see another Reigns vs. Corbin rivalry.
But the biggest reason storyline wise is that both are heels and one will have to turn face at some point.
There’s no way Reigns will go face yet, unless the WWE really wants to spit in fans’ faces again.
So that leaves Corbin turning face, but he’s too good a heel but it’s possible.
This would be a pretty interesting feud if they go this way. It could even play into the Rock coming back for a brief time to try to settle things and put Reigns over.
However they plan it out, there is little to no chance the ceremony goes off without a hitch because that just does not happen.
We think for this WWE Smackdown, they’ll keep it simple and within the family with the draft happening next week. The WWE will want to keep things simple so there’s some sense of surprise at the draft.
