It’s time to start the next stage of the NXT UK Heritage Cup tournament, as we have the first of two semi-final matches. Noam Dar faces A-Kid, in what should be a technical wrestling classic. Six three minute rounds, best two out of three falls, but a KO ends the match on the spot.
Noam Dar Is Saved By The Bell
They’d open this one with some grappling in the middle of the ring, neither man getting control. The rest of the first round followed a similar tone, just trading some grappling on the mat, but neither man really gained a ton of control.
They had a chance to feel each other out, and A-Kid had a nice showing near the end with a hard shoulder block and headlock takeover. This wouldn’t get a tap out, and more just annoy Dar. Dar got A-Kid up on the ropes and kicked him to the outside, pushing that slight advantage and looked to ride that into Round 2.
Having gotten a feel for each other in Round 1, Dar came in more focused with a cravate. He’d throw A-Kid across the ring, only to recapture him with a headlock. A-Kid flipped out of this and bounced off the ropes to hit an armdrag, then nailing a dropkick.
The pace would slow down once again, with A-Kid grabbing an arm but Dar setting him on the top rope, and kicking the leg out from under his opponent. This sets up that left leg for the Champagne Super Kneebar, and also lets Dar unleash some very heavy strikes. Dar tripped up A-Kid and tried for the North Sea Backslide. A-Kid rolled through and applied a vicious crossface, but Dar was saved by the bell after surviving a tough 15 seconds.
A-Kid Keeps Things Leveled
Dar had just 15 seconds to catch this breath, and only got to his feet after the round started, before hiding in the ropes. Burning off this momentum worked early, before A-Kid hit a suplex into an armbar. Dar countered out into a pinfall attempt, but A-Kid got free and played evasive with Dar. He’d fit some strikes and block one from Dar, but ran into a flatliner and fell to a Northern Lariat, getting a near fall.
Dar looked for the submission, applying the Omoplata, and A-Kid had to verbally tap out, losing the first fall. He didn’t want to get injured, but Dar held onto the hold after the bell to cause more damage. A-Kid had to make the comeback, but Dar kicked his left leg out from underneath and sent him hard to the mat. Dar was getting cocky with his downed opponent, like a cat playing with a half dead mouse.
A-Kid threw strikes but Dar went after the knee and the throat. He’d try to apply the rear naked choke, but instead scramble into a pinfall and get the second fall of the match, putting us back to 1-1 with two rounds to go.
A-Kid & Noam Dar Went To War
We’re back where we started, and both men are cautious. A big palm strike from A-Kid dropped Dar, but he missed the follow up. Dar got him to the apron and kicked his leg out from underneath him again, and dropkicks him through the ropes, A-Kid crashing to the mat. Dar didn’t want to win by countout, joining A-Kid on the outside and hitting a strong mid-kick, before kissing the trophy.
A-Kid would be almost thrown into the ring, but spun into a kick and Dar only just broke the ten count. Another big kick from A-Kid got a near fall, and he went high for the crossbody, but only getting another near fall. They’d spend the remainder of Round 5 brawling, but there were no knock-out blows. We’d enter the final round, and if they run out this round, it’ll be sudden death.
Both men went for and dodged kicks early, and A-Kid got Dar on the mat, but they’d battle for control. A flurry of pinfall and submission attempts would end with A-Kid looking for the Omoplata, Dar slipping out. Dar tried for the kneebar, but instead got his arm caught, but A-Kid couldn’t get the full extension on this hold.
Back to their feet, they’d throw hard kicks, before Dar hit a spinning back elbow. The Nova Roller would be set up, A-Kid countered with a kick of his own. A-Kid applied an armlock using his legs, and punched his ticket to the finals.
