For weeks now, Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese have been playing gatekeeper on 205 Live. Alongside The Brian Kendrick, they’re the 205 Live Originals, but while Kendrick helps the rookies, they want to stop them. Their recent targets have been  Curt Stallion and August Grey (formerly Anthony Greene, not the singer of Saosin & Circa Survive, the other one). Stallion has taken the fight to both of them, but tonight he has backup, and it’s tag team time!

205 Live Originals vs. 205 Live Rookies

August Grey would start off with Tony Nese, but get pushed right into the corner of the 205 Live originals. Daivari came in, ran the ropes with Grey and Stallion got the blind tag. He’d explode in with a big lariat, dropping Daivari and getting Grey right back in. The left elbow of Daivari is taped up, and the rookies are taking that advantage happily.

Quick tags in and out and attacking that arm was the early move, as they show they have plenty of tag team experience from their time together in EVOLVE. Daivari thought he got free as he hit the sunset flip, but Stallion rolled through and nailed a low dropkick right to the face, getting a near fall.

Stallion found himself in the wrong corner and a split second of his focus elsewhere and the 205 Live originals took advantage. Nese came back in and used his power to slam Stallion before bringing Daivari back in. Stallion was now the one isolated, and he’d take a neckbreaker from Daivari and some hard strikes from Nese.

He’d be picked up and nailed with a chop that would make WALTER raise an eyebrow, and Grey was ready to get back in this match. Stallion would counter a suplex into a small package, and when Nese kicked out he dashed to the corner to make the tag.

August Grey & Curt Stallion Show Their Worth

Grey jumped over Nese to punch Daivari in the face, and then hit a big neckbreaker on Nese. He was fired up, and showing he’s got a great hot tag. Nese sent him over the top rope, but a springboard twisting crossbody would follow. Daivari slapped him on the back, and gave Nese an opening to just slam Greys neck over the top rope.

The springboard moonsault would follow, getting a two count on Grey. Daivari would get tagged in, and dump Grey to the outside to slam his face right on that 205 Live logo on the announce desk. Grey wouldn’t be pinned, and now Stallion wanted to be let out of the pen.

A big suplex would drop Grey, before he was thrown into the corner. Nese came in, and they were just embarrassing Grey at this point. He’d fire back and be shut right down, even if Nese had to yank him down by his mullet.

Stallion tried his best to fire up Grey, and he’d win a slugfest in the middle of the ring but couldn’t make the tag before being drug back to the 205 Live originals corner. Nese used his thick thighs to apply a bodyscissors, but Grey broke free and was fingertips away from a tag. He’d finally hit a big back suplex, and this might have been his last chance to make the tag.

What Does Ariya Daivari Have Wrapped Around His Hand?

Stallion & Daivari both got tags, but Stallion was as fresh as you get. He’d hit a big snap German Suplex, a running boot, a running knee strike and a hesitation dropkick. Stallion stomped the foot of Daivari and pulled him right into a DDT, getting a two count.

Grey came in and dropped Daivari with a pumphandle driver, but Nese made the save with a dropkick to the head, before hitting Stallion with the superkick. Nese got the tag in, and they’d try for a double suplex, but Grey landed on his feet and threw strikes at both men.

He would get Daivari out of the ring, and Stallion flew through the ropes for the dive, before saving Grey in the ring. Daivari threw Stallion into the ropes, then wrapped that gold chain around his hand. Grey went for the rollup, but was shoved into the ropes and hit with that chain to the face, letting Nese get the pin.

This was one of the best matches we’ve seen from 205 Live this year, with great back and forth action bell to bell. Both these teams worked great together, and Grey & Stallion looked like absolute stars. The finish was a bit of a letdown, but if it sets up more matches like this one, sign me up.

Should Stallion & Grey get a rematch after Daivari cheated to win? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
