Social media lit up last night, as Goldberg fired shots at Roman Reigns and teased that the Big Dog avoided him at WrestleMania. Fans will remember that one of the main events at the biggest show of the year was set to see Goldberg and Reigns go one on one for the Universal Championship.
But, those plans were ended after Reigns admitted that he was being forced to miss the show due to health reasons due to the coronavirus pandemic. It would seem as though Goldberg hasn’t forgotten about their planned match, and teased that the match could still happen on The Bump.
WWE News: Could It Happen?
It was likely a work, as Reigns missed Mania for valid reasons due to the landscape that the world was in back in April. Goldberg continued on to Mania as the champion, and defended his title against Braun Strowman in the end. He would lose the championship to Strowman in a pretty forgettable short match that lasted no longer than a couple of minutes.
Goldberg’s recent comments means that a possible match between the pair may still happen, as the former champion also claimed that Reigns stole his finishing move. He claimed that Reigns needs to know the real power of a spear by being hit by his. Fans quickly took to social media after the comments to talk about the potential feud, and it’s fair to say that the tease didn’t go down as well as Goldberg may have expected. However, fan critics have very rarely changed the mind of WWE officials.
WWE News: Match Could Happen At Rumble
Goldberg hasn’t been involved in a good match since returning to the company, as he has been involved in just short matches that haven’t been able to capture the imagination of fans. This could give him a chance to prove these critics wrong, as he could have a classic with Reigns that lasts over ten minutes.
However, fans will likely prefer to see Reigns defend his title against a full-time talent first and foremost, with Daniel Bryan reportedly in line to face Reigns at the Rumble in January. However, these latest comments could indicate that plans could be scheduled to change, and that could mean Reigns vs Goldberg could instead be the direction that the WWE are heading in for one of the biggest shows of the year.
