We’ve caught up on NWA Shockwave with episode three! Allyson Kay is back in NWA action while Da Pope—yes, Elijah Burke—makes his in-ring return!
Also, Aron Stevens defends the NWA National title against his foe Trevor Murdoch. Here’s the card!

Allysin Kay vs. Nicole Savoy
Da Pope & Watts vs. Zicky Dice & Effy
NWA National Title: Aron Stevens (c) vs. Trevor Murdoch
Mid-Tier
Allysin Kay vs. Nicole Savoy was a nice, brief technical bout where “The Queen of Suplexes” Savoy made the former Women’s World champion work for that win.
Fun match that wouldn’t be out of place on NWA Power and would’ve been dope with more time.
Exotic-Tier
Elijah Burke is such an odd case because there are times when he was active in-ring but the matches weren’t easily accessible but anything with him outside of the ring was everywhere.
You have to be actively seeking matches with Da Pope. This match against Zicky Dice and Effy shows his athleticism and fluidness. It also looks like he’s in his first-release-from-WWE-MVP phase.
His team with Watts looks solid but the team of Zicky Dice and Effy was more impressive. Speaking of Zicky, this guy was super verbal and it added to the match. Especially when jawing off with Da Pope and Watts.
The undisputed star here was Da Pope. When he was on fire, he was ON FIRE. His performance was high energy and included his charisma. Plus, he’s playing a great face here.
Looks like he’s taking a Dusty Rhodes approach by speaking on tradition in wrestling, his mannerisms, and promos. I’m digging this!
The NWA National title main even opens with challenger Trevor Murdoch delivering one helluva punch to Stevens. Damn. Stevens was utilizing that Mongrovian Karate in a bid to hold on to his title.
Murdoch really hustled in this match. He wanted that title bad and even broke out the cleanest big guy diving crossbody I’ve seen. That was like an asteroid hitting Stevens, folks!
While he ended up losing the title, this was the best defense Stevens had with the belt. Very competitive bout and my favorite title match on NWA Shockwave so far. Murdoch’s speech afterward was a true champion’s speech as well and very humble.
NWA Shockwave #3 Verdict: Exotic-Tier (8/10)
Yeah, NWA and UWN delivered another awesome, action-packed episode of Shockwave. We had two dope, high energy matches and one clean, crisp bout that could’ve done with more time.
As far as match of the episode, I’m giving it to the tag team match featuring Da Pope and Watts taking on Zicky Dice and Effy. In the next episode, Dice and Thunder Rosa defend their NWA titles and Nick Aldis will be in action.
