It’s time for more action from WWE’s black and gold brand. Last week saw the end of the first round in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and this week see’s round two begin with some big matches. We also have a massive tag team main event, as NXT Champion Finn Balor teams with Kyle O’Reilly to take on the NXT Tag Team Champions, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch. Let’s break down those matches and what else to expect from tonight’s show.
MSK Look To Follow Up On Big Debut
When it came to the field of sixteen teams for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, there was only one surprise team planned. This was MSK, formerly known as The Rascalz on the independents and Impact Wrestling. They sped past Jake Atlas & Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott in the first round, but now have a major test.
Up next for MSK is the daunting duo of Killian Dain & Drake Maverick. Maverick should be able to match the speed of MSK, while neither member will be likely to come close to the power of Dain. Whoever wins this one could be the favorite to win this side of the bracket.
Finn Balor & Kyle O’Reilly Join Forces To Battle Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
After two matches that were as brutal as they were excellent, NXT has a dangerous new alliance. I’m not talking about Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa, but NXT Champion Finn Balor & Kyle O’Reilly. They have mutual respect, and some issues to settle with the NXT Tag Team Champions, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch.
Ever since Balor came back to NXT, he’s been a loner. That only got him so far, and while he doesn’t fully trust The Undisputed Era, they’re the best allies he has at this point. Cole & Strong should be able to hold off Pete Dunne from getting involved, as well as Pat McAfee if he re-emerges.
Not Much Announced, But Lots Teased
NXT has been sparse on announced matches this week, but we can expect more tag team action in both the men and women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. We’re overdue for Curt Stallion taking on Santos Escobar for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.
NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai has issues with Mercedes Martinez after costing her & Toni Storm their first round Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Xia Li hasn’t kicked anyones heads off lately either.
