Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler once were an odd team on paper, but have proven to be a very solid tag team unit. They had a good reign as champions, and looked to keep that going at TLC after smartly taking out one of their challengers in Lana. This left Asuka looking for a new partner, and no one expected that to be Charlotte Flair. But it was, and we ended up with new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Now, Asuka & Charlotte Flair need to defend against the previous champions tonight on the pre-show.
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler Show Superior Chemistry
Flair started alongside Baszler, and quickly applied a headlock. Baszler got the standing switch, before Flair took the leg and got caught. These two were the final two in last years Rumble match, and both are involved tonight. Flair was flung off the ropes after Baszler broke a headlock, and came back with a shoulder tackle before tagging Asuka in. The deadly strikes of Asuka were met with equal force from Baszler, who blocked a kick and hit one of her own.
Jax tagged in, and was quickly caught in the Octopus Stretch by Asuka. Asuka tagged Flair back in after Jax broke the hold, and Flair took Jax down before vaulting over the top rope to set up an odd pinning predicament for one. Flair tagged Asuka back in, and she was hit with a clubbing clothesline from Jax, before Baszler tagged in to attack the arm of Asuka. Baszler would hit a quick lariat and try a pinfall, getting a two count on Asuka.
Jax tagged in and kept on the arm of Asuka as best she could, applying a Cobra Clutch. Asuka broke free, but Jax took Flair off the apron before taking some heavy kicks and a codebreaker from Asuka. With no one to tag, she instead went to the top rope, only to be nearly caught with a Samoan Drop, but Asuka countered into a Powerbomb. Baszler broke the pin up, but took a kick to the head. Some kicks to a downed Jax would see one countered into a powerbomb, and Flair made the save just in time.
Charlotte Flair Gets Screwed Over By Ric Flair & Lacey Evans
Flair & Baszler met in the ring after getting tags, with some knife edge chops from Flair before an exploder suplex. A running elbow in the corner from Flair was dodged, but Baszler ran into a backbreaker before being sent head first into the turnbuckle. Jax tried to run interference, but was kicked down before Flair hit both Jax & Baszler with Natural Selection for a near fall.
Baszler followed up a Samoan Drop from Jax with a huge running knee strike, Flair kicking out. Asuka took Jax out on the outside, before being thrown over the table. Flair would take out Baszler with a moonsault to the outside, as Ric Flair decided to come down to ringside. Baszler nearly got a roll up win off this.
Lacey Evans was here for more distractions as well, and broke up the Figure Eight behind the back of the referee. Ric gave Lacey Evans brass knuckles, she nailed Charlotte with the Women’s Right. Leg Drop from Nia Jax, and we have two time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Will Jax & Baszler reign long? How will Flair get back at Evans? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
