WWE Smackdown Results returned as Kayla Braxton interviewed Big E backstage and asked about his odds when facing Sami Zayn and Apollo Crews to defend his Intercontinental Championship.
He said he’s always had to fight and that’s what he signed up for when he won the title.
Daniel Bryan vs. Cesaro
They locked up and Bryan hit a series of kicks and they exchanged uppercuts before Bryan hit a drop toe hold and hit a running kick to Cesaro’s arm.
Bryan then hit an armbreaker, and backflipped Cesaro over the top rope. Bryan then hit a splash off the top rope to the floor, and Bryan threw Cesaro into the ring and hit a missile dropkick.
Bryan hit a Yes Kick, and then another armbreaker on Cesaro’s left arm.
Cesaro reversed the hold and went for a reverse suplex but Bryan rolled out and landed on his feet.
Bryan then countered a popup uppercut into a backslide pin attempt, and Cesaro hit an uppercut to drop Bryan.
Cesaro hit a series of uppercuts before Bryan rolled him up for an attempted armbar and then a Yes Lock, but Cesaro managed to block it and he rolled Bryan over and hit a couple of knees to Bryan’s back.
Cesaro went for a corkscrew uppercut and Bryan caught him with a kick, and then another to the back of Cesaro’s neck for a near pinfall.
Bryan then held Cesaro’s arms while he stomped him and measured him for a running knee that Cesaro countered into a series of backbreakers and a swing and then locked in a sharpshooter for the win.
This was a really good match and WWE Smackdown Results loved every second of it. We love technical matches like this and it really brings back memories of the old days.
There’s something special about an unexpected submission ending.
After the match, Cesaro went to Bryan and offered his hand for a fist bump. It’s great to see Cesaro’s face turn and getting a good push.
