Ben Carter made a massive impact during his debut on NXT UK when he took Jordan Devlin to the limit, almost winning the NXT Cruiserweight Championship in the process. Now, he has a match against Josh Morrell, and a chance to show his skills once again. Carter was able to beat a heavyweight in Sam Gradwell, but can he beat a fellow highflier?
Josh Morrel Wants To Raise His Stock, Ben Carter Won’t Go Down Easy
Morrell knew that a win here would skyrocket him, and he wasted no time getting to Carter. He’d isolate Carter with the rear chinlock, but Carter was able to get out of that with ease thanks to studying a lot of tape of NXT UK GM, Johnny Saint. A handspring let him escape an arm whip without damage, before Carter got the arm lock himself. Morrell flipped out of the hold, but was caught back with a headlock takeover. He’d break free and hit a nice hurricanrana, countering the pop up powerbomb.
Carter broke free from the corner with a handspring, before Morrell rushed into a flatliner to the middle turnbuckle. This got a two count, and it would be back to the technical wrestling with a waist lock from Carter. He’d move into a front facelock, Morrell countering out and looking for the surfboard clutch.
Carter was able to free himself, and applied the hold on Morrell next. Morrell broke free, but took a big dropkick, only to get some shoulder tackles in the corner, before hitting a big hip toss slam. Carter would almost lose this one off a crucifix pinfall, before hitting a twisting suplex to set up the dive. He’d go up top, and hit a frog splash across the ring to end this one.
Ben Carter is just getting better with each match, and tonight showed he can do technical wrestling just as well as he can do high flying. Is he a future NXT UK Champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
