On Night One of NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, Nash Carter & Wes Lee of MSK won a triple threat match over Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado Del Fantasma to become NXT Tag Team Champions. This was their destiny after debuting in, and winning the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Tonight, they will make their first defense as they take on the odd couple duo of Drake Maverick & Killian Dain, who earned this shot on the preshow of Night Two by beating former champs, Breezango.
Killian Dain & Drake Maverick Start Off Fast
Carter would kick this match off with Killian Dain, and test him out with a leg kick. Dain absorbed this and quickly hit a snap suplex, before tagging in Maverick. Maverick tripped up Carter, before Dain hit an elbow drop. Lee would get a tag, before Maverick hit a dropkick to the knee before getting him in the face.
Maverick hit the tumbleweed off the top rope, before Lee got back to his corner. Carter tagged in and hit regained control with a double Bronco Buster, before going for a double back suplex with Lee. Maverick slipped free and tagged Dain, who was sent outside but caught Lee in a dive before throwing him into the apron, and running him down with The Divide crossbody as we went to a commercial break.
MSK Notch Their First Title Defense
Back from the break, Maverick would get a tag from Dain before losing control of Lee. Carter tagged in and hit a running knee to the jaw and a PK. He’d take Dain off the apron, before hitting a snap German Suplex. Hot Hot Heat landed, but Dain broke the pinfall up at two. Dain tagged in and looked to slam both members of MSK at once, but he’d be chopped down with strikes before taking a double superkick.
Lee went up high and nailed the Spiral Tap, but Dain somehow kicked out. Dain would block a sunset flip attempt from Carter, before catching Lee and hitting a driver onto his partner. Maverick tagged in, and Dain hit a powerbomb on Carter, before looking to powerbomb Maverick onto Carter. Lee saved his partner, but Maverick nearly stole it with a roll up. MSK set up the Blockbuster Spinebuster combo for the win.
