The WWE is no stranger to controversy, and most of its self generated such as sending Mickie James her things in a garbage bag.
Yep, after being released by the WWE in their yearly spring cleaning, James had her things sent to her in a garbage bag and she was quick to thank them for their efforts.
Dear @VinceMcMahon Im not sure if you’re aware, I did receive my @WWE care package today. Thank you. #AlwaysBlessedandGrateful #WomensWrestlingMatters 💋 pic.twitter.com/PyDC7ZC9lG

In her tweet, James informed Vince McMahon that she received her “care” package and thanked him. It also included a picture of the trash bag in question.
WWE was quick in responding as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon apologized and said the person responsible was fired.
Sacrificial firing?
It was later reported the individual was Mark Carrano, former Senior Director of Talent Relations
Former WWE Superstars weighed in, but Gail Kim held no punches as she tweeted, “Well I’m glad Hunter took initiative but it’s been happening since before I was there. Is it always the same person? At least they did something I suppose.”

Gail Kim went on to say in a later tweet, “Well we will never know. I definitely believe it’s been many people over the years and if someone was fired it was the person who was sacrificed. If it changes things from this point on, at least it’s something.”
Jillian Hall also tweeted about her experience a decade ago that was similar.
“Apparently I blamed the wrong person for my trash bag of ring gear over 10 years ago ??♀️.. she’s not with the company anymore ??♀️
“I didn’t blame her publicly, I just assumed I knew who did it. I remember thinking how disrespectful and thinking it only happened to me.”
Moving forward
There appears to be a long running standard in the company on how it allegedly treats its former talent, and it’s good to see Mickie James and others coming forward and calling out these practices.
While Carrano has taken the blame for this time, it does bring up the question as to whether he’s meant to placate everyone and will their practice change in the future?
We hope so as people put their lives on the line every time they step into the ring and deserve better treatment when they’re let go in a possible year budget culling.
Still, there’s always room to grow and improve and we hope this marks a positive change for the future and increases accountability for those doing such things.
After all, there are few greater insults than to have your things tossed in a garbage bag after busting their hump for years to help make a company successful.
