One of the most hyped fights of UFC 261: Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal was Uriah Hall VS Chris Weidman. Sadly, Weidman snapped his leg in half with the very first kick of the fight. This was visually gruesome and Daniel Cormier himself wasn’t able to watch on the replay. We have captured a few screencaps of the incident and as you can see, it is visually disturbing.
This is not the first time a leg injury of this magnitude happens, with Chris Weidman himself being on the other end of Anderson Silva breaking his leg in their second encounter. The fight vs Hall ended at at 17 seconds of round and was officially ruled a TKO stoppage due to injury. Hall had nothing but nice words to say about Wiedman in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, although he looked visually disturbed. The commentators pointed out that when this happens both fighters are affected, albeit obviously not to the same degree.

Weidman will have to see how his leg heals as this looked like a very severe injury. Leg injuries of the sort typically take a very long time to heal and Weidman is already 36 years old. We’ll see if his camp releases a statement and keep you updated but as fans of the UFC we wish Weidman and his family nothing but the best, you never want to see anyone go through that.
We’ll also see what this win means for Uriah Hall, since he is now on a 4 fight winning streak and is a legit contender for UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Although everyone would have liked to see Uriah test himself against a wrestling monster in Weidman to prove he is indeed ready to fight for gold, freak accidents are part of the game as much as we hate to see them happen and potentially derail careers.
