When Andrade made his exit from WWE, many fans were interested in just what is next for the talented luchador. Any company would be lucky to have him on their roster, but we haven’t seen him align himself with any particular company just yet. We do know what his first match on the indies will be though. He is set to face former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron in July.
But Only If Alberto El Patron Doesn’t End Up In Jail First…
El Patron was the one who announced this match which will happen in Texas on July 31st. “For the first time they are going to see what people on the Internet have been asking for, for a long time – Andrade against Alberto del Rio. I don’t think we have ever seen a poster of such magnitude featuring two Mexican stars in Texas.” is what El Patron said while speaking to SuperLuchas.
However, this is pending a trial. El Patron faces aggravated Kidnapping & Sexual Assault charges after an incident back in October. He was supposed to stand trial earlier this year, but that was pushed up to May 3rd. Depending on how that trial goes, this match will either happen or El Patron will once again no-show a commitment.
There are rumors of the match being turned into a Triple Threat match with Carlito in the mix, a possible save to ensure that Andrade has a match no matter what. Andrade vs. Carlito is about as big of a match in 2021, as very few really care too much about El Patron at this point.
Andrade To Be Part Of A New Lucha Libre Promotion?
While this is a one off match as part of Nación Lucha Libre, that won’t be the home of Andrade. It seems likely we will be joining a promotion that is just being started up by an old friend in RUSH. The ROH World Champion is working alongside names like Dragon Lee, Bestia Del Ring, Matt Taven, and more to bring a new promotion to the game.
This seems a perfect place for Andrade, and would likely mean he would be in Ring of Honor as well. That keeps the door open for a return to New Japan Pro Wrestling as well, where Andrade was a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion. Where do you want to see Andrade sign?
