Trent Seven fancies himself a ‘founding father’ of NXT UK, but when you really look at the history of his brand, Sam Gradwell has been here for just as long. Never one to stay quiet when there is a fight to be picked, Gradwell tonight has a chance to show that he’s better than Seven as they meet one on one in the main event. It’s the moustache vs. the motor mouth!
Sam Gradwell Came Ready Tonight
They’d lock up to start the match, with Seven shoving Gradwell to the ropes. Gradwell would grab a wrist lock, before forcing Seven down to the mat. He’d switch into a headlock, and be shoved off to the ropes before hitting a shoulder tackle. Seven came back with a crossbody and a body slam, before hitting a leg drop. He’s not Hulk Hogan, so this only got a two count.

Seven looked to set up a DDT, but Gradwell again countered and hit a double underhook suplex. Gradwell got a full mount and punched Seven in the mouth, before grinding his knuckle into the jaw.

Trent Seven Shows Why He’s The Founding Father Of NXT UK
Gradwell was sent outside with a lariat, with Seven following with a fast suicide dive. Back in the ring, Seven went to the top rope for a tumbleweed, missing Gradwell and hurting his knee on the way down. Gradwell applied a single leg boston crab on the hurt knee, sitting down in the middle of the ring but Seven was able to turn the hold around.
Seven would be kicked off by Gradwell, and tumbled to the outside. Gradwell took him off the apron with a forearm strike, before diving off the apron with a diving elbow strike. Both men were down, but Gradwell got some kicks for good measure before getting Seven back in the ring. He’d go up top, and Seven stopped him in his tracks.
Both men would battle for control on the top rope, and Seven would win out with a chop to the neck before getting the superplex. Gradwell kicked out at two, but the damage was done. Seven looked for the Seven Star Lariat, but Gradwell countered into a rolling elbow for a two count.
Gradwell would hit some elbow strikes to the side of the face, before hitting the Thunder Driver for a two count. Seven would be down and Gradwell went for a big dive off the top, but was caught with two boots under the jaw and a Seven Star Lariat for a two count. Gradwell & Seven would trade strikes, before Seven nailed the Burning Hammer for the win.
Gradwell continues to impress with every showing in NXT UK. He’s becoming one of the better bruisers on the brand, and always getting better. However, Seven is perhaps the best all around talent that NXT UK has to offer, and he showed that in this excellent main event. They went back and forth, but Seven’s love of 90’s AJPW allowed him to take the win in the end. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** ¾)
