AEW Double Or Nothing Results: Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston vs. The Young Bucks (AEW World Tag Team Championship)

The Young Bucks have finally started to show their true colors in AEW as of late, and made a lot of enemies. Two of those are Eddie Kingston & Jon Moxley, who just want to take down The Elite in general. Tonight they get a chance to start to make their empire topple, as they’re the favorites going into this match of the AEW World Tag Team Championships. The Young Bucks have had a strong reign, but Kingston & Moxley could finally be the ones to take them down.

Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston Came To Fight

If you thought the pop for Hangman Page was big, the crowd took the non-existent roof off Daily’s Place as Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston tore their way to the ring with The Young Bucks’ precious Nike Air Diors to the ring. Commentary didn’t even bother trying to talk during it. The energy in this arena was simply insane, as a chorus of boo’s rained down on The Young Bucks as well.

Before the bell even rang, Kingston & Moxley would jumpstart this match. Kingston would stick in the ring with Nick in the ring, as Moxley tried to force feed Matt on the outside with streamers. Nick made the save, before Kingston flew to the outside to take them out. This one was quickly turning into a brawl as Moxley took a beer from a fan and smashed the can on his head, Sandman style.

Brandon Cutler was a sacrificial lamb as he took ‘The Violent Crown’. Nick Jackson took Kingston in the ring, and the bell finally rang. Kingston nailed a low knee strike to take control, before Moxley was tagged in to keep the brawl coming. A front suplex from Kingston was followed by an STO for a two count.

Nick would get free with a thumb to the eye before cutting Kingston down at the leg. Moxley was taken out on the outside, as The Young Bucks picked the pace up with their tag team chemistry. Bucks hit a fist drop and standing splash combo, before Kingston flapjacked Nick onto the top rope but was unable to make the tag.

The Young Bucks Call In Some Elite Help

Moxley was thrown into the barricade, before Kingston was pummeled in the corner by Matt. A scoop slam was followed by the Hulk Hogan routine, but Moxley pulled him out of the ring before the Atomic Legdrop. Nick got a tag but springboarded into an exploder suplex. Moxley got the tag alongside Matt, but Moxley was fresh and fired up. Nick was dropped with a piledriver before Matt took a cross-armed variant for a two count.

Mox went right into the Bulldog Choke, but Nick broke it up before hitting a double DDT. Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows came to ringside, but failed to make an ambush. Frankie Kazirian would even the odds and fight Anderson off, but back in the ring Matt would spray Moxley in the eyes with some cold spray before cracking him with the can before getting a two count.

Moxley was bloody, and The Young Bucks set up a Meltzer Driver onto the ramp to all but knock out their biggest threat. He’d have spaghetti legs, but made it into the ring all the same. Moxley was ready to keep fighting until his last breath, and Matt would punch at the cut.
An assisted Swanton Bomb got just a one count, and Bucks would kick away at his front and back but didn’t give up. Kingston was desperate for the tag, but Matt would do his best to prevent the tag and Nick choked Mox from the apron. Nick tagged in, and Mox fired up before being clubbed down to the mat. The Young Bucks did the Shield taunt but Moxley had enough. He’d German Suplex both men, and tag Kingston.

You Have To Give The Devils Their Due

Kingston wert wild on both champions, channeling the fighting spirit of The Holy Demon Army with a Gamiguri, DDT and Stretch Plum. Nick punched him in the face, and Kingston just booted him away. Machine Gun chops in the corner to mat like Nick hit a superkick to the back of the knee, before a running knee strike to the face.

Nick went high with a swanton bomb, and met two knee’s on his way down. Moxley would get back up and take the tag, but took a double superkick before Bucks went for More Bang For Your Buck. Kingston stopped it and Moxley got a rear naked choke, but Nick got free and nailed a 450 splash for a near fall. Meltzer Driver was countered, and Violent Crown was set up but failed.

Instead, Moxley & Kingston hit the Doomsday Device with the Dior shoes, but it was broken up at two. Moxley countered a suplex and looked for the Paradigm Shift, only for Nick to counter into a Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring. Kingston made the save and nailed a backdrop driver before Nick hit a superkick.

Moxley came back to life and nailed a King Kong Lariat and Paradigm shift, but the pin was broken up. Kingston was taken out with a leg kick, and Moxley took a superkick party only to kick out at one. Moxley was a crazy man tonight, and he wasn’t going home without gold. Kingston was taken out, and all that was left was BTE Trigger. However, they’d hit a second, third and fourth for the win.

The atmosphere of this match was perfect. It went a bit longer than needed, but it was to tell a great story. The Young Bucks used their tag team chemistry to outlast the newer tag team, but had to fight extra hard to just keep Moxley down. The action was insane, the crowd was electric, and it kept you guessing until the end Match Rating: 4.25/5 (**** 1/4)
