For a while now in NXT, we’ve been seeing video packages for ‘The Diamond Mine’. This has stood out to many, due to it not really seeming like something in the realm of professional wrestling. Since April, we’ve seen the MMA themed video packages airing just about weekly. However, last night there was a slight difference. Whatever it is, it’s opening soon. So ahead of the proper announcement, let’s speculate on what WWE has up their sleeve.
An MMA Themed Faction Coming To NXT?
Right now in NXT, we’re seeing a changing of the guard. With slots opened up on the main roster following another set of releases, we are likely to see some names move on. We’ve already seen one new faction debut in Hit Row, and Legado Del Fantasma has gotten more and more prominent in recent weeks.
NXT is becoming known for their effective use of factions, with their most successful being The Undisputed Era. This makes the idea of Diamond Mine being an MMA styled faction more plausible. Eagle eyed fans noticed a glimpse of Arturo Ruas in the latest video package, which could be a hint as to one name who might be involved.
Is Diamond Mine The Name Of The NXT: Evolve Project?
Another major option here comes with something fans are waiting patiently for. Months ago now, we would hear rumblings of a new show popping up in WWE. Triple H put former ROH & Evolve booker Gabe Sapolsky in charge of putting together his team, and set them on the challenge of creating a true developmental show in WWE.
NXT has long been the third brand of WWE, having beaten RAW & Smackdown at Survivor Series 2019, and having a presence at Wrestlemania in 2020 when Rhea Ripley defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair.
They haven’t been developmental in a long time, but this new project would be there to give up and coming talent from the PC a chance to shine like a diamond. Diamond Mine could simply be the name of this project, and fans won’t have to wait much longer for this new show. The Diamond Mine project has been kept under wraps quite well, but we will find out what it is very soon.
