At UFC 263, Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz starred in a 25-minute battle. ‘Rocky’ dominated Diaz for most of the fight, as reflected in his unanimous decision victory, but in the final round he was nearly knocked out by Diaz.
After sharing a grueling contest, it appears that both warriors have developed some mutual respect for each other. It also appears that Diaz, who has proven adept at getting what he wants out of UFC and the sport of MMA, shared some knowledge with Edwards.
Leon Edwards reveals what Nate Diaz said to him after their fight
The Briton shared on his Twitter account the words Nate said to him at the end of the fight.
Nate told me after the fight “don’t let these motherfuckers tell you ain’t shit name your price or they will name it for you” and I felt that

Edwards’ relationship with UFC hasn’t been perfect in recent times. Despite having a long undefeated streak in the promotion, dating back to his loss to current champion Kamaru Usman in 2015, a desired UFC title shot has eluded him.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, Edwards was supposed to face Tyron Woodley in a main event. UFC President Dana White had indicated that a win for Edwards would equal a title shot.
However, that event (which was to be in London) was canceled and then Edwards was unable to travel to the U.S. It took a long time for Edwards to be scheduled back in UFC. During that period, he saw himself dropped from the UFC welterweight rankings. He was reinstated in the rankings after agreeing to face White’s latest pet project, Khamzat Chimaev.
The fight with Chimaev never happened due to both men suffering from severe bouts of COVID-19. Leon was finally able to return to action (after a nearly two-year hiatus) when he faced Belal Muhammad in March.
That bout ended up being overturned due to an unfortunate eye poke inflicted on Muhammad in the second round. Now, with a win over Diaz, Edwards probably sees himself as a natural contender for Usman. However, we’ll have to wait and see if UFC is willing to give him what he wants.
