Ever since Braun Strowman was released from WWE earlier this year to the shock of everyone, fans have been wondering what is next. He has been expected to join All Elite Wrestling once his 90 day non-compete clause is up, or even rejoin WWE. However, a return to powerlifting is out of the question, as Strowman revealed the reason he no longer does deadlifts. It’s because of the side-effects of a major back injury in 2015.
Braun Strowman Is Partially Paralyzed In His Left Leg
While responding to comments on his Instagram, Strowman would reveal a long standing injury which has impacted him. In 2015, Strowman suffered a back injury. It was likely in the first half of 2015, as he made his debut as part of the Wyatt Family in August of that year, and didn’t miss any large periods of time following his debut.
In his own words, “My big deadlifting days are a lil behind me, since my back injury in 2015. My left leg is about 15% paralyzed.” This is something which would have certainly impacted his in-ring performance throughout the past six years, and made his agility even more impressive. He’s been open in the past about weakness in his left leg, but this is the first time he’s given much detail.
The Sky Is Still The Limit For Strowman
If anything, this injury being around for the majority of his in-ring career just makes folks wonder what he would have been able to do with two good legs. Braun is clearly a great athlete, but this is a hard thing to reverse. Back injuries are serious deals, and this is the type of injury which could just get worse over time.
We can only hope that Strowman is able to continue to maintain his health in the coming years. He could potentially become one of the biggest names outside of WWE if he plays his cards right, or even be brought back in with another big contract for WWE.
