Diamond Mine is looking to build up the future of WWE, and those include Brutus & Julius Creed. These are two brothers who have been in the developmental system for just eight months, with very strong amateur wrestling backgrounds to back them up. Under the eye of Roderick Strong, they are ready to make their debut on NXT tonight – and show just how deadly they can be.
The Creed Brothers Tear Their Opponents Apart
The Creed Brothers were looking intense as they hit the ring. Brutus & Julius had necks like tree trunks, and their opponents had no chance from the word go. A single leg was stopped by Brutus before a huge uppercut. Brutus would chuck the first opponent over the top rope with a scoop slam, and give a tag to their partner. A belly to belly suplex, would see Julius want in, before they’d chuck him with Fireman Carries.
Julius got a double leg before driving them into the corner, before a massive powerslam. They were hyped up and tearing these two apart like few teams have ever managed in WWE. Julius nailed a huge slam and elbow strike to finally end it. This was like American Alpha & Authors of Pain merged together, which could be dangerous for the NXT Tag Team division.
Io Shirai & Zoey Stark Step Up As Champions
For weeks now, fans have been wondering why they haven’t seen Io Shirai & Zoey Stark defend the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter have also wondered this, and demanded to be the first to test this duo. They get their chance tonight, in what should be a fast paced and intense title fight. The belts were raised up high, and Starks started with Catanzaro.
Catanzaro got a headlock but Stark would power her way out before tagging in Shirai. She was met by Carter, who cartwheeled out of a headscissor attempt and Shirai took a dropkick soon after. Carter got a rear chinlock applied, before Shirai broke free and hit a codebreaker out of the corner as we’d go to a commercial break.
Back from the break, Stark would have Catanzaro in the middle of the ring with a surfboard clutch. Stark would miss a tag to Carter and take a superkick for a two count. A spin kick would get her the space to tag Shirai, who nailed the 619 and a missile dropkick for a two count. The crossface was applied, and Carter was stuck in the middle of the ring.
Carter & Catanzaro hit an assisted senton before Shirai fought back and hit the Bullet Train knees. Stark tagged herself in and took a facebuster soon after. Catanzaro would dive off the shoulders of Carter, but Shirai made the save. Stark would hit her flipping GTS, and the Moon Over Moonsault ended the match.
A solid tag team match, where the challengers looked like a better team than the champions, with Shirai really carrying her team. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (*** 3/4)
After the match, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne would attack the losers with Mandy Rose. Can Stark & Shirai continue to get along as champions against this next challenge? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
