The NXT Tag Team Championship reign of Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan ended in a way that no one wanted to see – being forced to vacate after an injury. MSK would win the vacant belts, and have been dominant ever since. Now that Burch is healthy, they’re back and have a chance to regain the belts they never lost. This is a match fans were really looking forward to back then, and tonight we will see if it delivers on the hype.
Put Some Respect On The Name Of MSK
The crowd was electric for this match, and Burch would start alongside Carter. Burch would show his arm was fine before taking Carter down with a headlock to the mat. Carter would break out and hit a quick dropkick, before taking a headbutt. Lorcan was in for the first time in this match. Wes Lee was in soon after, and alongside Carter would cut Lorcan down with kicks before a stomp to the back.
Carter was tagged back in, and Burch would take him down with some uppercuts before managing to fight off both challengers and getting Burch in the corner. Through the picture in picture break, Lorcan & Burch would retake control with their hard hitting strikes. Carter would be trapped in a Bulldog Choke by Burch as we came back to full screen, and would do his best to fight his way free only to take a back drop.
Lorcan would crush him with some heavy chops, before a snap suplex and some mounted punches. Carter would keep on fighting and manage to get an opening to tag in Lee. Lee would come in with a ton of energy, going toe to toe with Lorcan in terms of strikes before German Suplex got a near fall.
A huge spin kick dropped Lorcan for the Hot Hot Heat moonsault, but Burch broke the pinfall up. Carter & Lee nailed dives to the outside to drop both opponents, before Carter landed on the knees of Lorcan after going high risk again with a Swanton Bomb. Lorcan went right into an ankle lock, and Burch got a crossface to hold Lee away. Carter would be able to save himself, and MSK nailed the Assisted Blockbuster for the win.
A clash of styles which worked lovely. MSK would have to try to keep their speed going while matching the aggression of their opponents. Lorcan & Burch are always amazing, and showed why tonight in this one. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
