Dana White, outspoken Donald Trump supporter and president of the UFC, has shared his thoughts on the situation in the USA.
White’s buddy Trump left the White House at the beginning of this year, with new POTUS Joe Biden stepping in. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing economic chaos continues to affect the country, and in a recent interview with Travis Browne Dana expressed his frustration with the “f**king mess” the US faces.
Dana White: “The Country is a F**king Mess” but “There’s Never Been a Better Opportunity than Right Now”
“I believe that this country is a f*cking mess right now. And there’s never been a time where there’s more opportunity than there is right now. You got people that aren’t going back to f**king work cause they are living off the government.
You’ve got businesses that got destroyed that have been around forever through this pandemic. Now is not a time to sit back and collect checks from anybody, unless, it’s you know, you’re working or whatever.
Now’s the time to get out there and go after whatever. Whatever your f**king dream is. Whatever your goal is, there’s never been a better opportunity than right now.
Right now is the time that you run over all these f**king guys that are sitting around crying and whining and bitching about their life. Now’s the time. I don’t know if there’s ever gonna be a time like this again in our lifetime.”
The two positions – that the country is a mess, but it’s also a great opportunity – seem contradictory at first. Dana White’s approach to business, however, tends to embrace high-risk scenarios. When White and his business partners the Fertitta brothers bought the UFC, all they got for their $2 million investment was the brand name and an Octagon.
The sport was widely considered too extreme for the mainstream sporting landscape, and had been running at a loss for years. Under White and co, the UFC over time became a multi-million dollar business, earning hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
Given that context, it makes sense that Dana White would look at a mess and see opportunity. Of course, many people don’t have two million dollars lying around to take advantage of said opportunity. Either way, many will agree with Dana White, many will disagree, but the UFC president remains nothing if not opinionated.
Do you think Dana White is right about the state of the USA, or should he stick to the UFC and avoid politics? Let us know in the comments.
