The union of Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman has led to one of the most dominant title reigns in WWE history. For 417 days, no one has been able to dethorne the Tribal Chief… but Brock Lesnar is his biggest threat yet. He’d make his return at Summerslam, and is looking to reclaim both his championship and Paul Heyman tonight at Crown Jewel.
Lesnar & Reigns are evenly matched, and this one could come down to who Heyman is working with. After a lengthy entrance from Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar was straight forward. He’d march to the ring, and was as ready for a fight as before. It might be his first match in almost two years, but ring rust doesn’t apply to an alpha male like Lesnar.
Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar Throw Heavy Bombs From The Opening Bell
They’d lock up early, which benefits an MMA champion like Lesnar – but Reigns was able to slip away. Reigns would be caught in the corner and beaten down, but was able to block a German Suplex. Lesnar would be persistent looking for the German Suplex, and on the third attempt it would land.
Reigns would be hit with some shoulder thrusts in the corner, and Lesnar would keep the pressure on. They’d head to the outside, and Lesnar was shoved into the corner post – but it wasn’t enough. As Lesnar tried to get back in, Reigns nailed a superman punch to send Lesnar off to the barricade before a huge dive over the top for a big impact.
Once back in the ring, Lesnar took a wicked spear from Reigns – but that’s never enough. Two superman punches landed, and Lesnar was rocked. Reigns went for a spear, and Lesnar leaped over him and the tribal chief kissed the corner pad. Lesnar was smiling, and nailed a German Suplex.
Who Is Paul Heyman Really The Advocate For?
After a third German, a fourth came around. The F-5 landed, and Reigns kicked out. Lesnar would be frustrated, but it wasn’t over yet. Another F-5 was countered into a chokehold, but could Reigns choke out Lesnar? Nope. He’d break out with a spinebuster.Another F-5 saw Reigns land on the referee, meaning there was no one to count the pin.
Lesnar tried to wake up Charles Robinson, but ended up just sending him out of the ring – before turning into a spear. Heyman slid the Universal Championship into the ring, causing a tug of war. Lesnar would be suckered into a double superkick from Usos, a belt shot, and the new official counted three.
Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar have honed their chemistry over the years, and this was another great heavyweight spectacle from these two. They have a big match presence like few others in WWE have ever had – making them a natural main event for a show of this scale. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
