Today’s episode of Ring of Honor was a long time coming. It was entirely focused around the battle of two factions, Violence Unlimited & The Foundation. They have traded championships and wins, but tonight they get all the focus in three faction vs. faction matches. Which is better, Violence or Pure Wrestling? Let’s find out!
Rhett Titus Gets Outnumbered By Violence Unlimited
Opening the show we would see Rhett Titus & Tony Deppen kick things off with some excellent grappling. While he can fight dirty, he’s a fantastic wrestler – but Titus was better on the mat, getting a headscissor lock and even a huge Belly To Belly Suplex. Deppen got a hold on the mat, and was able to bite the fingers of Titus.
Homicide would come to ringside to cheer Deppen on, and also throw some steel chairs into the ring. Why? Because he’s Homicide and it got Titus to release a deep half crab and distracted the referee. Deppen would use the chair behind the back of the referee, and nail a huge knee strike for the win.
After the match, Titus was rightfully mad that his faction mates did not even try to help him as he was outnumbered. We’d also get a bit of a preview of what’s to come, with next week being a Halloween Special and the week after that, Bandido defends the ROH World Championship against Alex Zayne.
Jay Lethal Proves He IS The Foundation Of Ring Of Honor
Next up, with Homicide still at ringside, we’d see Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams joined by Jay Lethal, team up to take on Brody King & Chris Dickinson. After the Code of Honor, Gresham and Williams would actually attack from behind, starting this one off a bit un-pure. Gresham would grapple with Dickinson for a bit, before being run over by King. He’d end up isolated by the two heavy hitters, before being able to misdirect them and get a tag to Williams.
Williams was able to gain some control, and almost got Dickinson with a Double Trapped Ankle Lock. Gresham got a tag and nearly choked out King, before another brawl. In the end, Williams was choked out by Dickinson, putting two wins for Violence Unlimited on the board.
With Lethal & Homicide already at ringside, they’d get right into a fast paced brawl of a match. Lethal nailed three dives to the outside, and Homicide came back with one of his own. Homicide was caught with a fork in his boot, but never got to use it. He’d nail an exploder suplex and tried for Cop Killa, but Lethal countered. Tony Deppen tried to make a save, but Dutch of The Righteous ran him down, as Lethal hit Lethal Injection for the win.
After the bell, Lethal would be greeted by the entire Righteous faction all clad in white cheering him on from the ramp. What is Vincent’s plan with Jay Lethal? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
