Joe Gacy has some issues with the Cruiserweight division and it’s champion, Roderick Strong. This is a division that just serves to divide weight classes and gender, with only a certain type of man allowed to challenge for it. His bickering has forced the hand of Strong & Diamond Mine. Tonight the weight limit is removed as Gacy gets a chance to take control of the Cruiserweight division.
Ahead of this match, the next special event of WWE NXT 2.0 would be announced. January 4th will not only bring Wrestle Kingdom in NJPW – but New Year’s Evil in WWE!
Roderick Strong Fires Off Backbreakers
Strong would go right after Gacy in the corner – before having to shove him off. Gacy would go for a hug, but Strong instead got a slap to the face. Strong came back fast with some strikes before the first backbreaker of the match. A big chop and another backbreaker followed.
Strong would be taken down with a shoulder tackle and a northern lariat, before some quick elbow drops. Gacy wouldn’t enjoy control for long before he’d take more of those fabled Strong chops, and was trying to escape the ring. He’d be able to regain his footing before hitting a backbreaker of his own.
Joe Gacy Falls Behind The Pace Of Diamond Mine
A brainbuster would get Gacy a one count, before Strong would set up and nail a superplex for a two count. They’d trade blows in the middle of the ring, before Strong nailed the gutbuster & angle slam for a two count. Strong Lock was applied, but Gacy would start to crawl to the ropes and would get a crossface applied.
Strong slipped outside, and Gacy flew outside onto him. Ivy Nile would get in the face of Gacy, and Harland lifted her like an angry toddler. Gacy calmed the situation down and nailed a Gutwrench Bomb in the ring for a two count. Strong fired back with End of Heartache, getting the win.
