After a win over Grayson Waller last week on NXT 2.0, Boa seems to have refocused. He approached the empty throne of Mei Ying, and seemed to gain her powers. We will see if this goes anywhere as he will take on Joe Gacy tonight. Gacy could have the monstrous Harland closeby, which could very well lead to yet another win for the advocate of inclusivity.
Bron Breakker Got More Experience In The UK, Joe Gacy Claims Another Win… Via DQ
Before this match we’d hear from Bron Breakker – who was just on his first ever tour in the UK. It was an incredible experience, and just more steps towards another shot at the NXT Championship. In his own words towards Ciampa – “I’m coming back to The States, and I’m going to beat your ass. REMEMBER THAT.” Getting on a tour like that shows the confidence WWE has in Breakker, and how fast he’s becoming a star.
One man who needs many steps to the title is Boa, who is sporting new face paint tonight. Joe Gacy would offer a handshake and have his foot kicked away. He’d get a headlock, and grind Boa down briefly, before sending him to the apron. Boa was sent over the ropes with a sunset flip for a two count, before he was thrown throat first into the middle rope. A big backbreaker and a suplex in the middle of the ring got a two count.
Boa railled back with some big strikes and a double underhook suplex. A big boot to the face was followed by the music of Tian Sha playing, and Gacy being choked out on the ropes. Boa refused to let go, and this one was deemed a DQ. No one knew what was going on, but Joe Gacy was the winner at the end of the day. Boa just walked away looking like nothing interesting happened, and this was a worse finish than the recent Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor match.
Welcome To Jacket Time!
Ikeman Jiro & KUSHIDA have been a thorn in the side of Diamond Mine ever since Roderick Strong took the NXT Cruiserweight Championship from KUSHIDA. Jiro and his comedic tendencies enrage Diamond Mine, and at Halloween Havoc – they would dress up as The Creed Brothers. This mockery has led to a match tonight, as these two world traveled wrestlers take on the rookie upstarts in tag team action.
Now known as Jacket Time, this team has a name. Wade Barrett hates it, but he was a member of The Coore. Julius Creed would start fast as he threw Ikeman around. He’d see that despite the jacket, Ikeman is a talented wrestler as he escaped. They can’t outpower them, but KUSHIDA can out wrestle anyone. Diamond Mine can’t beat the NJPW dojo system. What can beat KUSHIDA is a flurry of suplexes, but a handspring into the back elbow dropped them. Ikeman nailed some shotei palm strikes, before they sent the Creed brothers outside as a commercial break came along.
Back from said break, KUSHIDA was chopping down both Creed Brothers. However, Ikeman Jiro helped with a double dropkick before a Swanton Bomb got a two count. Ikeman Slice would miss, and his jacket was torn off. Roderick Strong ensured Julius had no issues planting him with a Gutwrench Powerbomb for the win. After the match, Odyssey Jones would rush down Strong, having his own issues – and Diamond Mine was sent running.
A solid little tag team match. Jacket Time is a great mix of pure skill and charisma, while The Creed Brothers are what WWE wanted when they set up Alpha Academy on Smackdown & RAW. The NXT 2.0 tag team division has quickly become the best in WWE today. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
